Lesson 6: The “Change” of the Law – Discussion starters

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 6, 2018 by Joyce GriffithJune 29, 2018Joyce Griffith

The seventh day. Is it true that keeping the seventh-day Sabbath is not a requirement for salvation? Or, expressed another way, will Christians be saved for eternal life without honoring Sabbath as the correct day of worship? Will honoring the seventh-day Sabbath ever become a test of our dedication to God and His way to … Continue reading –>

Monday: The Law and Sin

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 6, 2018 by Sabbath School LessonMay 12, 2018avatar
Sin is Breaking the Law

In yesterday’s study we looked at verses (Rom. 7:15-25) that talked about the reality of sin for everyone, even Christians. However, in the verses before these, Paul points to the law, which shows just how prevalent sin is, and how deadly. Read Romans 7:1-14. What is the relationship between the law and sin? What do these verses also … Continue reading –>

Sunday: The Promise

One of the greatest promises in the Bible is found in Romans 8:1: “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit” (NKJV). These words come as kind of a capstone, a conclusion to a train of thought that came right … Continue reading –>

Was the Atonement to Appease an Angry God or an Angry Race?

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 3, 2018 by William EarnhardtMay 9, 2018avatar

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”  Romans 5:8 Was the atonement and sacrifice of Christ a matter of vengeance? Did God the Father send His Son to die because He needed to see someone suffer for the rebellion?  Do we serve a God … Continue reading –>

Friday: Further Thought – Christ in the Heavenly Sanctuary

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 3, 2018 by Sabbath School LessonMay 14, 2018avatar
Spectacles on Bible

Further Thought: The book of Hebrews points to the earthly sanctuary as the model, the type, of what Christ would do for us both on earth, as our sacrifice, and in heaven, as our High Priest. The Israelite sanctuary was always meant to be an object lesson of the gospel. It was to teach the Jews … Continue reading –>

Thursday: The Day of Atonement

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 2, 2018 by Sabbath School LessonMay 7, 2018avatar
High Priest

The book of Hebrews teaches that the earthly Hebrew sanctuary service was a model of the heavenly sanctuary, the one that Christ entered and inaugurated as our High Priest. The earthly service, with its two apartments and its sacrificial and cleansing rituals, was “the copy and shadow of the heavenly things, as Moses was divinely … Continue reading –>

Wednesday: Our Intercessor

Our Advocate

Though sin had brought a fearful separation between God and humanity, through Christ’s sacrificial death we as human beings are brought to God and can continue to have access to Him. See Eph. 2:18, 1 Pet. 3:18. “Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
