Eve and Adam in Eden

Sabbath Afternoon Read for This Week’s Study: Genesis 2:7-23; Genesis 3:1-6; 2 Peter 1:3-11; 2 Peter 2:1-17; Hebrews 13:7, Hebrews 13:17, Hebrews 13:24. Memory Text: “Behold, God is exalted by His power; who teaches like Him?” (Job 36:22, NKJV). Most Bible students know the story of Genesis 1-3 and its cast of characters: God, Adam, Eve, the angels, the serpent. The setting is a … Continue reading –>

Education - Ellen G White Notes

Christian Education “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding” (Proverbs 9:10, NKJV). Think about the above text. It entails, really, two closely related concepts: “fear,” as in awe, as in marveling at the glory and power of God; and “knowledge,” as in learning … Continue reading –>

Don’t Be Afraid to Try!

Sabbath School Net Posted on September 24, 2020 by William EarnhardtOctober 8, 2020avatar

Does the past ever haunt you? Do you ever wish you could go back and do something differently? Every baseball season I am haunted by something that I did, or actually didn’t do when I was 12. Many springs ago, I was a Little League baseball player. It was my first year of organized baseball, … Continue reading –>

Pregnant for Two Years By Andrew McChesney Fanta Camara was excited when she noticed a bump on her belly. But as the bump grew bigger, she began to feel ill. She felt so terrible that she went to the hospital in Conakry, Guinea. A physician examined her belly. “You aren’t pregnant”, he said. Fanta didn’t … Continue reading –>

Spectacles on Bible

Further Thought: “Those who have the spiritual oversight of the church should devise ways and means by which an opportunity may be given to every member of the church to act some part in God’s work. Too often in the past this has not been done. Plans have not been clearly laid and fully carried … Continue reading –>

Thursday: Love’s Commitment

Heart Tree, Giving Away Hearts

At the end of the conversation between Peter and Jesus, we see two men walking on the beach. As the waves lap at the shore, Jesus tells Peter about the cost of discipleship. He wants Peter to know clearly what he will face if He accepts Jesus’ invitation to “feed My sheep”. Read  John 21.18-19. … Continue reading –>

Wednesday: The Demands of Love

Children Praying

Love always manifests itself in action. Our love for Christ compels us to do something for lost humanity. Paul stated it clearly when he said to the church at Corinth, “For the love of Christ compels us” (2 Corinthians 5:14, NKJV). Christianity is not primarily giving up bad things so that we can be saved. Jesus … Continue reading –>

The Martyr in Fire

When Paul accepted Christ, his whole life was radically changed. Christ gave him an entirely new future. He led him out of his comfort zone to experiences he could hardly have imagined. Through the Holy Spirit’s guidance, the apostle Paul proclaimed the Word of God to thousands throughout the Mediterranean world. His witness changed the … Continue reading –>

Sabbath School Net Posted on September 20, 2020 by Corinne KnopperSeptember 20, 2020avatar

The title for the quarters lesson pamphlet immediately brings to mind  Hymn 499 – What  A Friend We Have in Jesus. This week’s title “A Step in Faith” gives us the hymn My Faith Looks Up to Thee – Hymn 517. In the Sabbath afternoon introduction Rev 5:12 has us singing Hymn 246 – Worthy, … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
