6: Playing God – Singing with Inspiration
As the Israelites forgot about God and followed so many other gods and nations, God remained faithful to them, with Isaiah and many other prophets working so hard for God to turn His people around, hence I will choose
Hymn 100 – Great Is Thy Faithfulness as a theme hymn for this quarter. Secondary to this we may use
Hymn 104 – My Shepherd Will Supply My Need.
Isaiah speaks again this week as one of God’s prophets:
Hymn 413 – God Has Spoken By His Prophets. This is also in
Hymn 261 – The Spirit of the Lord Revealed (verse 2),
Hymn 275 – O God of Light (verse 2) and
Hymn 346 – Lord Who Dost Give to Thy Church (verse 2).
We can see in the past how the nations forgot to bow before God, so in the hope that we do not follow in their footsteps, we sing
Hymn 82 – Before Jehovah’s Awful Throne”.
Isaiah 13:10, 13 show the mighty power of God on the sun, moon and stars as does
Hymn 88 – I Sing the Mighty Power of God.
We are shown on Wednesday that the “house of God” is “the gate of Heaven”. We wish to be at that gate very soon, knowing who will unlock that gate for us is in
Hymn 164 – There Is a Green Hill Far Away (verse 4),
Hymn 341 – To God Be the Glory,
Hymn 421 – For All the Saints (verse 5), and the gates will fling open wide in
Hymn 433 – Ten Thousand Times Ten Thousand.
Final Triumph (Thursday) is in
Hymn 172 – The Strife Is O’er,
Hymn 173 – Good Christian Friends Rejoice and then we see
The Lord in Zion Reigneth – Hymn 7. It will be a treat then to sing
Hymn 450 – Beautiful Zion.
We have a warning in the book of Isaiah to
Look for the Waymarks – Hymn 596.
If you do not know any of the hymns listed above, you will find the accompaniment music for each one at: https://sdahymnals.com/Hymnal/
Another great resource is for when there is a hymn you wish to sing, but can’t find it in your hymnal. Go to https://www.sdahymnal.org and in the search bar type a special word in that is in the hymn. I am sure you will be amazed at the help you will be given.
2 Timothy 2:15 KJV – “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
