Hey! Are You Using Any of the Sabbath School Net Lesson Teaching Plans? — 10 Comments

  1. Yes I do use SSNET as a resource for my Sabbath school. Along with other resources. This is a “must have” resource, and I read it daily, and refer back to it on Friday night as I prepare the lesson. And I do mention this place when I quote from it, because I would love for more people to use it. (or actually read the lesson its self)

  2. I used these resources (and Joyce Griffith) when I taught. Sadly my hearing is so bad I can no longer participate in discussions. So I settle with reading the helps you all provide. Keep it up.

  3. I usually teach Sabbath school 1-2 times/month. I do always skim the resources looking for questions that might be good ones. I don’t really get much out of the Michael Fracker plans just because they tend to repeat questions that are already in the quarterly. I’m not saying they’re not good questions, I’m just already aware of them.

I read Bruce Cameron’s plans before they were here. Sometimes I find a lot of questions in them that are useful and sometimes Bruce takes a different approach than what I want to focus on. So it varies.

The other resources I just skim over. The hymns are interesting, but as I am not picking songs for church, they aren’t relevant to me. If I had more time, I would probably watch some of the videos of the discussions of the lesson, but usually I’m rushing on Friday night and don’t have time for extras.

Two other resources I use to some extent are Pine Knoll’s discussion questions and Good Word from Walla Walla. I wish there were more resources out there to consult. But as a teacher, I feel I’m pretty good at developing good questions and usually manage even if the resources that week aren’t the greatest.

  4. Yes! Typically use the ones from Michael Fracker – find that they fit best with my style. I greatly appreciate them!

  5. I’ve been moved to the children’s division, but when I taught adults I used the teaching plans as well as some of the comments on the daily material. I always felt that I had more to share – and since my basic theory for teaching or speaking is that I should know 10 times as much as I’m presenting it was always a wonderful blessing.
    Thanks for everything

  6. Thanks so much for the mention.
I have used the lesson plans here on ssnet for years and years! They are so helpful to help me organize my thoughts about the lesson into a discussion format.
Thank you for letting more people know they’re available.

  7. I use the Michael Fracker outline although it was missing last week so I went with William Earnhardt’s outline. (I assume, perhaps incorrectly, that Mr. Earnhardt’s was substituting for Mr. Fracker’s this past week.) I often combine the Bible Study Guide’s info and questions with my own and Mr. Fracker’s.

  8. Yes, my audience is in Africa and they are happy to receive the teaching plan by Michael Fracker and you and the Teaching Outline by Bruce Cameron.

Thanks for the wonderful help you are providing.

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
