The Sanctuary and the Cross

Sabbath School Net Posted on October 23, 2021 by William EarnhardtNovember 3, 2021avatar

When people ask me why Adventists do not keep the feast days, I tell them we do – literally! At the cross we had the literal Passover. Ever since 1844 we have been living in the literal Day of Atonement. When Jesus returns it will literally be the Feast of Trumpets. As Colossians 2:14-17 points … Continue reading –>

Love is why we have to…..

Sabbath School Net Posted on October 13, 2021 by William EarnhardtOctober 23, 2021avatar

Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God’s law. Romans 13:10 NLT  A young grade-school boy and his daddy were walking down a country road when they noticed a car pull over to the shoulder a few hundred meters up the road. The passenger door opened, and a little puppy … Continue reading –>

Missionaries

They all cried as they embraced and kissed him [Paul] good-bye. They were sad most of all because he had said that they would never see him again. Then they escorted him down to the ship. Acts 20:37-38 Growing up back in the 20th century, long before Facebook and social media, a pastor or Sabbath … Continue reading –>

Does the Bible Teach About a Secret Rapture?

Sabbath School Net Posted on September 22, 2021 by William EarnhardtSeptember 30, 2021avatar

“Two men will be working together in the field; one will be taken, the other left. Two women will be grinding flour at the mill; one will be taken, the other left.” Matthew 24:40-41 NLT Many people have used this passage to suggest a secret rapture, where people will suddenly just disappear and be taken … Continue reading –>

A Tribute to Joyce Griffith

Sabbath School Net Posted on September 16, 2021 by Maurice AshtonFebruary 13, 2023avatar

Many of you will remember the Sabbath School Net “Discussion Starters” produced by Joyce Griffith. I was saddened to learn that Joyce passed away yesterday. Joyce had worked for various church departments, including the Voice of Prophecy. She had also been a missionary to Africa for about 5 years. I never met Joyce in person. … Continue reading –>

We All Need Mercy

Sabbath School Net Posted on September 13, 2021 by William EarnhardtSeptember 22, 2021avatar

Just a few years ago, I was meeting a friend from church at the bank to handle some church business. I parked my car in what I thought was a secluded area of the parking lot, away from the other cars. My friend followed behind in her car, and for reasons I still do not … Continue reading –>

Twice Mine

Sabbath School Net Posted on September 7, 2021 by William EarnhardtSeptember 13, 2021avatar

So the creation of the heavens and the earth and everything in them was completed. On the seventh day God had finished his work of creation, so he rested from all his work. And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when he rested from all his work … Continue reading –>

Depression: Is it Time to Ask for Help?

Sabbath School Net Posted on August 19, 2021 by William EarnhardtAugust 25, 2021avatar

Just a few months ago I shared a story about a plane crash where around 80 people were killed. The whole ordeal could have been avoided if only proper communication and understanding had taken place. Some say the cockpit should have communicated more clearly. Others agree the ATC should have listened better. I feel for … Continue reading –>

Even With all the bad Breaks we are More Than Conquerors!

Sabbath School Net Posted on August 11, 2021 by William EarnhardtAugust 19, 2021avatar

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28 NKJV  In John 8:1-11 Some men with terrible intentions seduced a woman and dragged her to Jesus  to see if He would condemn her or even allow her … Continue reading –>

Do we need to Love Ourselves Before we can Love Others?

Sabbath School Net Posted on August 5, 2021 by Inge AndersonMay 29, 2024avatar

It was a novel idea, and it did sound logical. But  it  didn’t feel right: “We must love ourselves first, or we cannot love others as Jesus told us to.” The speaker  at our dorm vespers explained that, since Jesus told to love others as we love ourselves, we must first love ourselves. As a … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
