Negative Feelings Play a Positive Role in Our Salvation

Parenting as Disciple-Making

For it is not possible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. Hebrews 10:4 NLT  To me, a lot is said in the brief passage above. It tells me no one was ever saved by the Old Covenant. Those who lived and died before Jesus came were never saved by the … Continue reading –>

Sabbath Is a Gift For the World, Not a Burden Given For the Jews

Life Partner

They must realize that the Sabbath is the Lord’s gift to you…. Exodus 16:29 NLT  Regardless of our personal stand on wedding rings or wedding watches for that matter, we all understand that in many cultures the wedding ring is a gift symbolizing a relationship. Men will pick out a ring that they hope their … Continue reading –>

No More Wiped-Off Kisses: Forgiving and Loving My Dad

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 30, 2021 by Jennifer SchwirzerJune 17, 2021avatar

My mom and dad were decent people and my childhood, compared to some, a walk in the park. Nevertheless there were issues. Nothing so big it couldn’t be talked through, but that was the rub—we didn’t. It just wasn’t part of our family culture to repair conflict. We escalated, boiled over, yelled, stormed, stomped out, … Continue reading –>

Does Romans 9 teach Predestination for some or Salvation for All?

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 26, 2021 by William EarnhardtJune 3, 2021avatar

Many take Romans 9 to say that God has chosen some people to be saved and others to be lost without any will or choice of their own. They call this predestination. So let’s take a deeper look at this chapter and see for ourselves. We will let the Bible explain itself.  With Christ as … Continue reading –>

Saved by Grace, Lost by Disobedience

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 4, 2021 by William EarnhardtMay 12, 2021avatar

A while back a former Adventist friend was telling me that the Adventist church deceived her. She said when she first came into the church the evangelist was preaching about grace. But once she joined they started preaching about Sabbath keeping and obedience. She found works and obedience to be contradictory to the gospel of … Continue reading –>

Jesus Protecting Earth

Then the Lord took Abram outside and said to him, “Look up into the sky and count the stars if you can. That’s how many descendants you will have!” Genesis 15:5 NLT  Of course Abram’s most important descendant is Jesus, but each descendant has his or her own sphere of influence just like the stars. … Continue reading –>

The Amazing Covenant Keeper

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 22, 2021 by William EarnhardtApril 30, 2021avatar

When I saw the title of this week’s lesson, “An Everlasting Covenant” I automatically thought of how faithful God has been to His covenant even when His people were not keeping their end of the bargain. For example, in Exodus 32 God’s people worship a golden calf. Then God acts as if He is going … Continue reading –>

The Law Maker and Promise Maker

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 14, 2021 by William EarnhardtApril 23, 2021avatar

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one … Continue reading –>

Better Promises Make a Better Covenant

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 8, 2021 by William EarnhardtApril 15, 2021avatar

The story goes of a man who got a job chopping down trees. The first day his foreman noticed he had cut down only ten trees while the other men had cut down a hundred or so. “Oh well,” thought the foreman, “it was his first day.” But the next couple days went the same … Continue reading –>

In 1969, 7 -year old Niki was in the hospital having some tumors removed from her throat. While in the hospital she met Charita, another girl her age, who had a rare form of cancer. Niki found out that because of the cancer Charita would never be able to have children of her own. The … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
