Sunday: Our Father in Heaven

Sabbath School Net Posted on June 28, 2014 by Sabbath School LessonJanuary 31, 2015avatar

Father was not a new name for God. The Old Testament sometimes presented Him as our Father (Isa. 63:16; 64:8; Jer. 3:4, 19; Ps. 103:13). However, it was not the most used name for Him. For Israel, the personal name of God was YHWH (probably pronounced Yahweh), which appears more than six thousand eight hundred … Continue reading –>

The Teachings of Jesus – An Introduction to 2014c lessons

Sabbath School Net Posted on June 27, 2014 by Sabbath School LessonJuly 4, 2014avatar

The Divine Teacher Most of us probably remember a great teacher who made an impact on our lives, whom we admired and appreciated. Some teachers transcend their own times and continue to influence subsequent generations. Outstanding teachers have decisively impacted life and thought and are often universally recognized. Jesus, of course, was the greatest Teacher … Continue reading –>

When Stephanie found life difficult in her public school in Denmark, her parents enrolled her in the local Adventist school. The family wasn’t Adventist, but Stephanie quickly made friends and settled in to her new school. The school’s religious teachings in Bible class seemed strange, but Stephanie’s new friends talked to her about their faith, … Continue reading –>

Friday: Further Study: Christ’s Kingdom and the Law

Sabbath School Net Posted on June 26, 2014 by Sabbath School LessonJune 28, 2014avatar

Further Study: Ellen G. White, Without a Wedding Garment, pp. 307-319, in Christ’s Object Lessons. “Satan had claimed that it was impossible for man to obey God’s commandments; and in our own strength it is true that we cannot obey them. But Christ came in the form of humanity, and by His perfect obedience He … Continue reading –>

Thursday: The Law in the Kingdom

Sabbath School Net Posted on June 25, 2014 by Sabbath School LessonJune 26, 2014avatar

Of all the harsh consequences of sin, death has been the most persistent. Sin can be overcome, Satan can be resisted, but with just two known exceptions (Enoch, Elijah) out of billions, who has escaped the inevitability of death? When it comes to death, wrote an ancient philosopher, we human beings all live in an … Continue reading –>

13: Christ’s Kingdom and the Law – Hit the Mark

Sabbath School Net Posted on June 25, 2014 by Curtis HallJune 28, 2014avatar

Bound, beaten and bruised he stands as a Royal King. He is in the clutches of the most powerful kingdom on Earth. He has no advocates and a chorus of voices are crying out for a sentence of death. There standing before Him, holding the scales of life or death, is the powerful governor of … Continue reading –>

The Kingdom That Lasts Forever

Sabbath School Net Posted on June 25, 2014 by William EarnhardtJuly 4, 2014avatar

Daniel 2:1-48 is a prophecy that assures us God’s Kingdom is coming, and that it is coming soon. But that is not all it teaches. It also shows us the character of the people who make up God’s kingdom. When the wise men could not tell Nebuchadnezzar his dream, Nebuchadnezzar ordered all the wise men … Continue reading –>

Wednesday: The everlasting Kingdom

Sabbath School Net Posted on June 24, 2014 by Sabbath School LessonJune 28, 2014avatar

God created a perfect world. Sin entered, and that perfect world became severely marred. The story of redemption tells us that Jesus entered human history so that, among other things, the original perfection will be restored. The redeemed will live in a perfect world where love reigns supreme. As we have seen, love can exist … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
