Friday: Further Thought – Prophecy and Scripture
“It is the first and highest duty of every rational being to learn from the Scriptures what is truth, and then to walk in the light and encourage others to follow his example. We should day by day study the Bible diligently, weighing every thought and comparing scripture with scripture. With divine help we are to form our opinions for ourselves as we are to answer for ourselves before God.
“The truths most plainly revealed in the Bible have been involved in doubt and darkness by learned men, who, with a pretense of great wisdom, teach that the Scriptures have a mystical, a secret, spiritual meaning not apparent in the language employed. These men are false teachers. It was to such a class that Jesus declared: ‘Ye know not the Scriptures, neither the power of God.’ Mark 12:24. The language of the Bible should be explained according to its obvious meaning, unless a symbol or figure is employed. Christ has given the promise: ‘If any man will do His will, he shall know of the doctrine.’ John 7:17. If men would but take the Bible as it reads, if there were no false teachers to mislead and confuse their minds, a work would be accomplished that would make angels glad and that would bring into the fold of Christ thousands upon thousands who are now wandering in error.” – Ellen G. White, The Great Controversy, pp. 598, 599.

I thought you never posted e-mails--I have been getting many replies to my comment in my e-mail I do not like this
Dear Jean, I'm sorry you are receiving emails you do not want
That said, no one but moderators see your email, and they don't send you anything unless they have specific reason to contact you. However, when you post a comment, you can choose to be notified of replies to your comment or choose NOT to be notified. The default is to be notified, and a script takes note of your email address so it can send you the replies you chose to receive.
You can unsubscribe by following instructions at the bottom of the emails you are getting. However, realistically speaking, the emails will stop just as soon as the topic is no longer discussed, which is usually at the end of the week.
There is so much to learn and put into practice from the wisdom contained in the Bible! It may take more than a life time! But it is necessary to confront what we understand from it to what we are actually living! It takes faith to trust, to remain strong during trials and to remember what God has made for us in the past, and what He is able to do for us and with us today!
The recurring theme throughout the entire Scriptures, is Jesus. I view it as the BIOGRAPHY of our Lord, what was written about Jesus, encapsulating His autobiography, that is, Jesus' own words that He spoke about Himself and His identity. It stands to reason therefore, that if I study "His Book" daily I will learn more and more about Him. By seeking to behold Jesus through the pages of the Bible, we will be changed and our walk with Him will deepen and strengthen.
There's more! Unlike any other book or human biography, whose subject/author is either dead or unknown to us, Jesus is ALIVE! and He has promised us a living Guide, in the person of The Holy Spirit to shed light on our dark understanding as we study the Word of God. "But when He, the Spirit of Truth is come, He will guide you into all truth." John 16:13. What a wonderful promise! It gives me great hope.

In response to Question #4:
What think I of Christ?”—this is the all-important question. Do I receive Him as a personal Saviour? Yes. Because I am reminded to all who receive Him He gives power to become sons of God.
I needed help, and I found it in Jesus. Every want was supplied, the hunger of my soul was satisfied; the Bible is to me the revelation of Christ. I believe in Jesus because He is to me a divine Saviour. I believe the Bible because I have found it to be the voice of God to my soul.
