A City Called Confusion – Hit the Mark Sabbath School

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 26, 2023 by Curtis HallMay 26, 2023avatar

Is this True, Somewhat True, or False? The message of leaving Babylon is a call to join a different church. Join us as we discuss Lesson 9, A City Called Confusion.

Inside Story: Bike and Bible – Part 1

Bicycle Leaning Aginst a Wall

Bike and Bible, Part 1 By M.B., as told to Kathie Lichtenwalter I wish you could meet Hussein, the security guard for the building where my wife and I live as missionaries in the Middle East. From the time we first met, we could see he observed his faith carefully and lived with sincerity. I … Continue reading –>

Further Thought:  “The message of Revelation 14:1-20, announcing the fall of Babylon must apply to religious bodies that were once pure and have become corrupt. Since this message follows the warning of the judgment, it must be given in the last days; therefore it cannot refer to the Roman Church alone, for that church has been in … Continue reading –>

Living Like Daniel in the Middle of Babylon

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 24, 2023 by William EarnhardtMay 30, 2023avatar

As Adventists, we believe that in the last days there will be a showdown between spiritual Babylon and those who have the seal of God, who reflect the character of Jesus. While Daniel had his haters, it amazes me how he seemed to thrive and even find favor among the leaders of Babylon and Persia. … Continue reading –>

Thursday: Babylon ~The Center of Idolatry

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 24, 2023 by Sabbath School LessonMay 24, 2023avatar
People Sacrificing Baby

Here is another clue in clearly identifying the “mystery of Babylon the great.” Idolatry was at the heart of Babylonian worship. Read Jeremiah 50:33-38 and Jeremiah 51:17, Jeremiah 51:47. What do you discover in these verses about ancient Babylon’s worship of images and God’s response to it? Jeremiah 50:1-46 and 51 predict Babylon’s destruction by the Medes and Persians. … Continue reading –>

Wednesday: A Call to Commitment

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 23, 2023 by Sabbath School LessonMay 23, 2023avatar
Wolf Disguised as Sheep

Revelation’s appeal is an urgent call to commitment, summarized in the symbolism of the two women in Revelation. Although at times it will appear that God’s people will be defeated in this cosmic controversy between truth and error, God promises that His church will triumph in the end. Compare Matthew 16:18 and Revelation 17:14. What promise did Jesus … Continue reading –>

Tuesday: Mystery, Babylon the Great

Read Revelation 17:4-6. What do these verses teach us about the nature of this evil system? As we have seen, Revelation 17:1-18 describes an apostate religious system that introduces into Christianity many of the teachings of Old Testament Babylon. “In order to search for an understanding of the nature of Babylon, we need to go back … Continue reading –>

9: A City Called Confusion – Singing with Inspiration

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 21, 2023 by Corinne KnopperMay 21, 2023avatar

“Three Cosmic Messages” encourages us to  Watch, Ye Saints – Hymn 598 as we near the end of this old world’s history to witness the Second Coming of our Lord, and Saviour, Jesus Christ. This is a wonderful hymn to give courage, dear people, and is our theme for this quarter.  We will be noting at … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
