Jesus Speaking to Disciples

Daily Lesson for Monday 22nd of July 2024 Jesus was done with the parable and gave no immediate explanation. According to the text (Mark 4:1), Jesus spoke it before “a great multitude.” Only later, with a smaller group (Mark 4:10), did He explain what the parable meant. Read Mark 4:13-20. How did Jesus interpret the … Continue reading –>

4: Parables – Singing with Inspiration

Sabbath School Net Posted on July 21, 2024 by Corinne KnopperJuly 21, 2024avatar

It is wonderful to travel through John Mark’s life and see the beautiful story climax with  Christ The Lord Is Risen Today – Hymn 166, therefore  Go, Preach My Gospel – Hymn 378. These two hymns give us a purpose all during this quarter to hasten the coming of our Lord Jesus. May you enjoy … Continue reading –>

Farmer Sowing Seeds

Daily Lesson for Sunday 21st of July 2024 Read Mark 4:1-9. What are the different soils like, and what happens to the seed that falls on them? When reading the parables of Jesus in the Gospels, people often want to jump quickly to the interpretation. After all, is that not the point of these stories—to … Continue reading –>

Once Upon a Time – Telling Stories That Teach

I love a good story, don’t you? Storytelling is a distinctly human trait. No matter how proficiently animals like dolphins, apes and some birds can communicate with us, they don’t care about stories. People, on the other hand, seem to be born craving stories. Think about the child at bedtime: “One more story, Mommy! Just … Continue reading –>

02: Discipling Through Metaphor – Thought Starters

[Thought questions for Discipling Through Metaphor January 8, 2014] Introduction. This week’s lesson may tweak your creative instincts searching for the connection between the topic for each day and the material presented. The first gap opens with Monday’s lesson, “Architectural Wisdom” which includes a brief paragraph about construction but nothing on architecture. Tuesday’s lesson, “Agricultural … Continue reading –>

02: Discipling Through Metaphor

Sabbath School Net Posted on January 6, 2014 by Curtis HallJanuary 6, 2014avatar

Seven miles had never appeared as long as they did that day. Just a few days before, the two friends had expected that their journey home would be joyful and full of good memories. But instead of recounting tales of fellowship and feasts, they were downcast and sad. Unexpected tragedy had replaced all celebration. Now … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
