The Call to Stand – Hit the Mark Sabbath School — 4 Comments

  1. A wonderful discussion. Thank you Curtis, Eric, Rachel, Esther & all the online participants.

I offer the following answers to the questions:

    1. Is this true, somewhat true or false ? : “God protects us from temptation.”
True: King Jesus Chris’s statements in Matthew 4:4,7,10

    2. Which vision of God’s covering do you identify with : Being in a tank or riding in a Bentley ?
    An armoured Bentley 🙂

    3. Is this true, somewhat true or false ? : “True Christians should be winners and winning means achieving.”
True: A true Christian is defined for me by Matthew 11:29 : Truly humble people.
Achievement in His kingdom is defined in Matthew 13:8.

    4. Is this true, somewhat true or false ? : “Being strong in the Lord equates to not doing anything contrary to the principle of love.”
True : King Jesus Christ’s statement in Matthew 5:44

    5. Who in the bible illustrates being strong in the Lord ?
    Esau in Genesis 33:4.

    6. Resist D-evil (Matthew 4:7,10) Cultivate Humility (Matthew 11:29). All (Christian) virtues stem from humility.

    7. Is this true, somewhat true or false ? : “Standing means to stay positive.”
True. My favourite hymn: “Trust and Obey by John Sammis – 1887

    8. Is this true, somewhat true or false ? : “Our wrestling primarily is fighting against temptation.”
True. Temptation stems from our own hubris (false pride) & is our primary issue. It is solved by heeding King Jesus Christ’s words in Matthew 11:29

      • Thank you once again Curtis.

God appreciates what you are doing.

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
