Tuesday: Mystery, Babylon the Great

Woman Holding Up Wine Cup

Read Revelation 17:4-6. What do these verses teach us about the nature of this evil system? As we have seen, Revelation 17:1-18 describes an apostate religious system that introduces into Christianity many of the teachings of Old Testament Babylon. “In order to search for an understanding of the nature of Babylon, we need to go back … Continue reading –>

Seven-headed Beast

Read Revelation 17:1-2, Revelation 17:15 and Revelation 18:1-4. How extensive is Babylon’s influence? The fallen church system has an international reach influencing people around the world with her deceptions. Satan is enraged that the gospel will be proclaimed to every “nation, tribe, tongue, and people” and this “gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world,” so … Continue reading –>

Sunday: Two Contrasting Systems

The Game

Read Revelation 12:17 and Revelation 17:14. How is God’s church described, and what is Satan’s reaction to it? Down through the centuries, God has always had a people who have been faithful to Him. Revelation 12:17 describes their faithfulness as those who “keep the commandments of God,” and also who are elsewhere depicted as “called, chosen, and faithful” (Revelation 17:14, NKJV). … Continue reading –>

Memory Text: “These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful” (Revelation 17:14, NKJV). Inside Story: Quandary of Two Books

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 18, 2023 by Sabbath School LessonMay 9, 2023avatar
Clifford Goldstein

Quandary of Two Books By Clifford Goldstein When I grew up in a secular Jewish home, the essence of my religious experience could be summed up by how we kept the holidays: They tried to kill us, they failed – let’s eat! Nevertheless, I was always a seeker for truth. In the fall of 1979, … Continue reading –>

Further Thought:  “The reason provided … to worship God is that He is the Creator. In the heavenly liturgy, celestial beings expressed the idea in a very succinct way: ‘For You created all things’ ([Rev.] 4:11, [NKJV]). On earth, God’s creatorship needs to be emphasized as much as possible, so the angel says, ‘Worship Him who … Continue reading –>

Thursday: The Sabbath and Eternal Rest

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 17, 2023 by Sabbath School LessonMay 18, 2023avatar
Sabbath Rest

The Sabbath is a place of refuge in a weary world. Each week we leave the cares of this world and enter God’s retreat center — the Sabbath. The famed Jewish author, Abraham Heschel, calls the Sabbath “a palace in time.” — The Sabbath: Its Meaning for Modern Man (New York: Farrar, Straus, and Giroux, 2005), p. … Continue reading –>

The great controversy, which began in heaven millennia ago, was over the question of God’s authority. The challenge remains the same today, as well. Read Revelation 14:7, Revelation 14:9, and Revelation 14:12. Summarize these verses by completing the sentences on the lines below. Revelation 14:7 is a call to _________________ Revelation 14:9 is a solemn appeal not to _________________ Revelation … Continue reading –>

Tuesday: A Not-So-Subtle Deception

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 15, 2023 by Sabbath School LessonMay 9, 2023avatar
Large Statue of a Man's Head

In an attempt to destroy the uniqueness of our creation, the devil has introduced a not-so-subtle counterfeit. The counterfeit, accepted by even some among us, goes like this. God is the prime cause of creation, but He took long ages to bring life into existence. Evolution was the process He used. This approach attempts to … Continue reading –>

Monday: The Sabbath and Creation

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 14, 2023 by Sabbath School LessonMay 14, 2023avatar
The Seventh Day

It is because our world so desperately needs the reassuring message of Creation that God gave us the Sabbath. In the mid-1800s when the evolutionary hypothesis was taking the intellectual world by storm, God sent a message of incredible hope. We have been studying this message, found in Revelation 14:6-7. Satan has made every attempt to … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
