Friday: Further Study: The Eschatological Day of Atonement

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 5, 2013 by Sabbath School LessonMay 14, 2024avatar

Further Study: Ellen G. White, “What Is the Sanctuary?” pp. 409–422; “In the Holy of Holies,” pp. 423–432, in The Great Controversy. In Daniel 9:24–27, the beginning of the seventy weeks is marked by “the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem” (Dan. 9:25, NASB). The book of Ezra reports on three decrees … Continue reading –>

In an effort to “get us,” the enemy tells us lies, half-truths and even complete truths (in deceptive ways) in his effort to get us to doubt our Salvation. Let’s look at a few of his arrows. Satan says that God doesn’t really love us One of Satan’s most successful lies is that God doesn’t … Continue reading –>

Thursday: Daniel 8 and 9

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 4, 2013 by Sabbath School LessonMarch 3, 2016avatar

The term for vision (in Hebrew chazon) in the question in Daniel 8:13 refers to the entire vision in Daniel 8:3–11 (see Dan. 8:1-2, 13, 15) and encompasses the time of Media-Persia (ram), Greece (he-goat), and papal Rome (little horn). When the length of the vision is given as “2,300 evenings and mornings,” we should … Continue reading –>

10: The Eschatological Day of Atonement – Teaching Plan

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 4, 2013 by Michael FrackerApril 29, 2014Michael Fracker

Key Thought : To be a part of God’s last movement requires an urgent sense of mission to fulfill His call to reach the world with the gospel. [Teaching plan for The Eschatological Day of Atonement December 2, 2013] 1. Have a volunteer read Daniel 8:9-13, 23-25. a. Ask class members to share a thought on what … Continue reading –>

Martin Pröbstle Introduces “The Eschatalogical Day of Atonement”

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 3, 2013 by Sabbath School LessonMarch 3, 2016avatar

This week’s introduction runs just over 8 minutes and would be great as a Sabbath School introductory video. You can see previous videos at the SanctuaryLesson Vimeo Channel. If you haven’t seen last week’s introduction, we suggest you view it before the current one, because the two videos together help to simplify what some see … Continue reading –>

10: The Eschatological Day of Atonement – Discussion Starters

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 3, 2013 by Joyce GriffithDecember 6, 2013Joyce Griffith

Introduction. You’ll find a lot of unique Adventist theology packed into this week’s lesson. The “little horn,” for example. Even if you don’t agree that papal Rome is the little horn, you can hold on to the doctrine that Jesus is first and last and that He is not pleased when “innovations” from secular or pagan … Continue reading –>

Wednesday: Day of Atonement in Daniel 8

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 3, 2013 by Sabbath School LessonMarch 3, 2016avatar

The target of the horn’s assault is God’s heavenly sanctuary and His people. What does the future hold for them? That is what the question in Daniel 8:13 asks. However, only the Day of Atonement can bring the sanctuary and the people of God back to their rightful state and thus justify God in His … Continue reading –>

Tuesday: Restoration of the Holy

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 2, 2013 by Sabbath School LessonMarch 3, 2016avatar
Zacharias Sees an Angel

Read Daniel 8:14. What happens at the end of the 2,300 “evenings and mornings”? The phrase “evenings and mornings” reflects language from the Creation account that signifies a day (Gen. 1:5, 8, et cetera). It implies that God, using His own creative force, will counter the destructive activities of the horn and its host. The … Continue reading –>

Monday: “How Long?”

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 1, 2013 by Sabbath School LessonMarch 3, 2016avatar
2300 Day Prophecy

The presumption of the little horn leads to the cry for judgment. As the ram and the he-goat became great and then were broken (Dan. 8:4, 7-8), so the horn power exalts itself (Dan. 8:9–11). Thus, the question comes, How long will the vision be? What specific issues are prompting the question in Daniel 8:13? … Continue reading –>

Sunday: The Little Horn’s Attack

Sabbath School Net Posted on November 30, 2013 by Sabbath School LessonMarch 3, 2016avatar

Read Daniel 8, focusing especially on verses 9-14 and 8:23-25. What does the little horn power attack? The horn power interferes with the worship of the divine “Prince of the host” (vs. 11, compare with Josh. 5:13–15). It removes from Him (Dan. 8:11-12) “the daily” (in Hebrew tamid)—a word that refers over and over to … Continue reading –>

Sabbath: The Eschatological Day of Atonement

Sabbath School Net Posted on November 29, 2013 by Sabbath School LessonMarch 3, 2016avatar

Read for This Week’s Study: Daniel 8; Rev. 14:6-7; Num. 14:34; Dan. 9:24–27. Memory Text: “And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed” (Daniel 8:14). For a better understanding of the sanctuary message, study this chart, which shows how the great judgment scene of Daniel … Continue reading –>

Inside Story: Spreading the Light

Sabbath School Net Posted on November 28, 2013 by Sabbath School LessonMarch 3, 2016avatar

High on a lush mountaintop in Papua New Guinea (PNG) stands the village of Kora. People live in simple houses made of roughly cut wood and a thatched roof. They raise crops of yams, bananas, and sweet potatoes. Most of the older people can’t read, and they speak only the local language, which we call … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
