Singing with Inspiration – Lesson 7: Honesty with God

Sabbath School Net Posted on February 11, 2018 by Corinne KnopperFebruary 11, 2018avatar

Our memory text, Luke 8:15 prompts us to have “an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience”, sing: Hymn 639, “A Diligent and Grateful Heart” and  Hymn 27, “Rejoice Ye Pure in Heart!”. The titles of Monday and Tuesday’s studies give us the key word ‘Faith’: Hymn 517, “My Faith Looks Up to … Continue reading –>

The Marks of a Steward – Teaching Plan

Sabbath School Net Posted on February 6, 2018 by Michael FrackerFebruary 10, 2018Michael Fracker

Key Thought: Real stewardship forms the basis for purpose, success, meaning, and a sense of belonging. Lesson 6, February 10, 2018 1. Have a volunteer read Hebrews 11:8-12. a. Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is. b. In what ways could we be loyal to … Continue reading –>

6: The Marks of a Steward – Discussion Starters

Sabbath School Net Posted on February 5, 2018 by Joyce GriffithFebruary 10, 2018Joyce Griffith

Faithfulness. Whenever you have opportunity to hold to what is right, how does your decision to do what God says help you fight–and win–the “good fight of faith”? Have you ever been tempted to do “what comes naturally” rather than what you know God wants you to do? How are concepts of “trust” and “faithfulness” … Continue reading –>

Singing with Inspiration – Lesson 6: The Marks of a Steward

Sabbath School Net Posted on February 5, 2018 by Corinne KnopperFebruary 5, 2018avatar

Welcome to Singing with Inspiration for this week. The memory text shows we are required to be faithful stewards, therefore may I encourage you to sing: Hymn 602, “O Brother, Be Faithful”. This theme flows on into Sunday with the word faithful being high-lighted twelve times. Martin Luther finalises the thoughts on being faithful with: … Continue reading –>

Key Thought: Stewardship has its components embedded in faithful believers who have passed them from generation to generation. It’s now our turn to be faithful stewards and pass it on to the next generation. Lesson 5, February 3, 2018 1. Have a volunteer read Isaiah 22:14-18. a. Ask class members to share a thought on … Continue reading –>

5 Stewards After Eden – Discussion Starters

Sabbath School Net Posted on January 29, 2018 by Joyce GriffithFebruary 1, 2018Joyce Griffith

1. “We are not trying to please people but God.” Who framed these words? Was it a New Testament teacher working for SSNET before that organization began? Our Bible friend Paul writing to believers in Thessalonica? Is it possible to please people without being pleasing to God? Study this week’s lesson carefully as we consider … Continue reading –>

Singing with Inspiration – Lesson 5: Stewards After Eden

Sabbath School Net Posted on January 28, 2018 by Corinne KnopperJanuary 30, 2018avatar

As a Church, we are entrusted with the gospel, says our memory text. Here are two hymns that encourage us: Hymn 368, “Watchman, Blow the Gospel Trumpet” and  Hymn 378, “Go, Preach My Gospel”. There are just a few hymns that have the word ‘steward’ or ‘stewardship’ in them: Hymn 637, “Son of God, Eternal Savior” in … Continue reading –>

Key Thought: To escape worldliness we need to cultivate the spiritual life in Bible study, prayer, Christian service, fellowship, and contemplating the wonders of nature. January 27, 2018, Lesson 4 1. Have a volunteer read Hebrews 11:1-6. a. Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is. … Continue reading –>

4: Escape from the World’s Ways – Discussion Starters

Sabbath School Net Posted on January 23, 2018 by Joyce GriffithJanuary 25, 2018Joyce Griffith

Memory verse: “Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death. . . . He who trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like foliage” (Proverbs 11:4, 28, NKJV). Does a strong relationship with Christ protect us from evil and prepare us for eternal life with Him? What do you … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
