07: Taming the Tongue – Hit the Mark

Sabbath School Net Posted on November 13, 2014 by Curtis HallNovember 14, 2014avatar

Today, as I write this week’s thoughts on Taming the Tongue, an assorted group of scientist have successfully landed a spacecraft on a comet. This historic achievement that cost well over 1 billion dollars is part of an ongoing attempt to discover the origins of life. Some hope that contained within the elements gathered by … Continue reading –>

07: Taming the Tongue – Thought Starters

Sabbath School Net Posted on November 11, 2014 by Joyce GriffithSeptember 2, 2017Joyce Griffith

[Thought questions for Taming the Tongue November 11, 2014] 1. But it’s so strong! Have you ever heard that the tongue is the strongest muscle in the human body? That’s actually a myth. When it comes to strength, the tongue comes in behind the strongest group of muscles—those that close the jaw. Do both types of … Continue reading –>

07: Taming the Tongue – Lesson Plan

Sabbath School Net Posted on November 10, 2014 by Michael FrackerJuly 22, 2015Michael Fracker

Key Thought : Words hold tremendous power. Words can soothe and reassure, or poison and contaminate. [Lesson Plan for Taming the Tongue November 10, 2014] 1. Have a volunteer read James 3:1,2. a. Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is. b. Why does being a teacher … Continue reading –>

06: Faith that Works – Thought Starters

Sabbath School Net Posted on November 4, 2014 by Joyce GriffithFebruary 1, 2015Joyce Griffith

[Thought questions for Faith that Works November 4, 2014] 1. Faith without works is dead. James didn’t mince words, did he? Why did he speak so boldly, so plainly, about how faith is as useless as a dead body in the Christian faith? If the doctor-preacher in the story at the beginning of the lesson had … Continue reading –>

06: Faith That Works – Lesson Plan

Sabbath School Net Posted on November 3, 2014 by Michael FrackerJuly 22, 2015Michael Fracker

Key Thought : Faith and works cannot be separated. We can’t be saved by our works, but without them, our faith is useless. [Lesson Plan for Faith That Works November 3, 2014] 1. Have a volunteer read James 2:18. a. Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text … Continue reading –>

05: Love and the Law – Thought Starters

Sabbath School Net Posted on October 28, 2014 by Joyce GriffithOctober 31, 2014Joyce Griffith

[Thought questions for Love and the Law October 28, 2014] Love without Liking. Your lesson this week asks you to love even those you don’t like. Wait a minute! Is that possible? What about the marriage that goes bad? Is the wife obliged to love the husband she can’t stand any more? What if he uses … Continue reading –>

05: Love and the Law – Hit the Mark

Sabbath School Net Posted on October 28, 2014 by Curtis HallNovember 1, 2014avatar

It is called Bigfoot – a huge ape-like creature that some believe inhabits forests in North America. For many years there have been supposed sightings. People claim to have personally seen this mysterious creature and found evidence, such as large unusual footprints. Even though most of the supposed sightings and gathered evidence have been proven to … Continue reading –>

05: Love and the Law – Lesson Plan

Sabbath School Net Posted on October 27, 2014 by Michael FrackerJuly 22, 2015Michael Fracker

Sabbath School Net Posted on October 21, 2014 by Joyce GriffithOctober 25, 2014Joyce Griffith

[Thought Questions for Being and Doing October 21, 2014] 1. It’s not enough to be able to see and hear. Do you think it would be harder to follow Jesus if you were deaf? or blind? Didn’t have much intellectual understanding? Does a thorough knowledge of God and His plan of salvation earn you a place in His eternal kingdom? What did the … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
