03: Christ and Religious Tradition – Thought Starters

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 16, 2014 by Joyce GriffithApril 19, 2014Joyce Griffith

[Thought questions for Christ and Religious Tradition April 16, 2014] 1. Intro. We like to think that “other” churches teach the doctrines of men while “our” church believes in doctrines that are 100% from God. Is it possible for “our” church members today to prefer hand-me-down beliefs to the clear Word of God? Is it wrong to … Continue reading –>

Monday: Human Commandments

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 13, 2014 by Sabbath School LessonApril 24, 2014avatar

Although the scribes and Pharisees sat in Moses’ seat, their source of authority for religious instruction extended beyond the Old Testament. The law that the Pharisees utilized consisted of biblical interpretations of leading rabbis. These interpretations were not intended to replace the Scriptures but to complement them. At first they circulated orally; later the scribes … Continue reading –>

02: Christ and the Law of Moses – Hit the Mark

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 8, 2014 by SSNET StaffJanuary 11, 2015avatar

Straining to reach through the crowd, a nameless woman refuses to lose her opportunity for healing. Just beyond the crowd was her miracle. Just beyond the crowd was the start of a new life. It would not be an easy task, but it was worth any discomfort to achieve the desire of her life. The … Continue reading –>

01: Introduction and Christ and His Law – Thought Starters

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 2, 2014 by Joyce GriffithApril 4, 2014Joyce Griffith

[Thought questions for Laws in Christ’s Day April 2, 2014] 1. The law offends the evil one. What is there about the divine law that Satan hates so much? Since he can’t do away with it, how does he treat God’s law? How far into our daily lives does the law of God extend? [Thought questions for The Cost of Discipleship March 26, 1014] 1. A promise of persecution. Have you ever been persecuted? At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
