The <head> section of the page is useful for directives to browsers. It used to be important for search results as well, but it is much less important now.
By the way, capitals or lowercase makes no difference.
The only important tags appear to be the following:
<Title>
This should be written with the searching user in mind. Help people find the page they’re looking for with an accurate and helpful title, remembering that often only the first 50 characters are likely to be displayed. It does not necessarily have to be the same title as is displayed on the public page, but it should give an accurate idea of the content.
Page titles should be unique.
<Description>
Again, the description should be searcher-friendly and reveal what’s actually on the page. Think of what users are likely to search for and use key words in the description for which they are likely to search. Since the description may be displayed by Google (or it may not), make sure it is reader-friendly.
Descriptions should always have the most important part first. Don’t waste valuable space with words that mean little. Don’t use opinion words such, as “great, wonderful, impressive,” etc. All words should be factual in nature. Descriptions do not need to bee complete sentences, but they should convey accurate information, while possibly leaving out articles and connecting words used in other writing.
Descriptions should be unique to each page.
The resources below are helpful.

Apparently no search engines even read key words. So just omit this tag.
