07: Sharing the Word – Teaching Plan
Key Thought: When we share the Word of God, our primary goal is not to prove that we are right and the other person is wrong; it is to reveal Jesus in each facet of the truth we share.

1. Have a volunteer read Hebrews 1:1-3; Psalm 33:6-9.
- Ask class members to share a thought on what the most important point in this text is.
- What does this tell us about the power of God?
- Personal Application: Why should the truth about God’s creative power be comforting to us? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your relatives states: “I feel so guilty about my life and what I have done. I don’t think God can forgive me.” How would you respond to your relative and what Bible texts would you share?
2. Have a volunteer read 2 Timothy 3:14-17; John 17:14-17..
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the most important point is in this passage.
- What benefits come to us by studying the Word of God?
- Personal Application: Have you ever found a time of difficulty that through the Word of God proved to be a strength to you? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your friends states, “I read the Bible when I was young, but there were things in it hard to understand and hard to believe. People misuse it to prove whatever they want to believe. What does the Bible do for us today?” How would you respond to your friend?
3. Have a volunteer read I John 1:7-9.
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
- What does this promise teach us about the character of God?
- Personal Application: How have God’s promises in His Word impacted your life? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: One of your neighbors states, “Why do some people claim God’s promises and get the answers they ask, while other people claim God’s promises, but don’t get any answers? How does faith play a part in our reception of His promises?” How would you respond to your neighbor?
4. Have a volunteer read 2 Timothy 4:2, Isaiah 50:4..
- Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
- What principle do we see here concerning our sharing the Word of God?
- Personal Application: Who are some people you have contact with, and how can you be a better witness to them? Share your thoughts.
- Case Study: Think of one person who needs to hear a message from this week’s lesson. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.
