11: Out of the Whirlwind – Discussion Starters — 4 Comments

  1. God showed up and started a conversation with Job. Love was on display. Job was humble…..This is a beautiful picture of God and a revelation of the cruelty of the evil one.

  2. There are a number of texts in the Bible that mention whirlwinds, such as Jeremiah 25:32 ,Ezekiel 1:4 , and Nahum 1:3. What might the purpose be that God chose whirlwinds in each of those situations, along with Job?
I call them attention getters. God is not lacking in ability.

  3. Our inability to fathom evil, to be blindsided by it, is the very reason to trust implicitly that God’s plan must and will win. We can trust The Almighty, The All-Knowing One, who truly loves us.The battle is The Lord’s; and, He’s already won!

  4. Even with all that God is, He still asks that we come and reason together, to talk and ask questions. Just as we still talk and spend time with our children so they can grow to their greatest potential, so God teaches us as we spend time with Him.

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
