There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. Romans 8:1 NKJV He told her he loved her. Said she was beautiful. Promised her she would be special. Next thing she knew she was being dragged out of … Continue reading –>

In the Cross of Christ I Glory

The Sacrifice on the Cross

In Paul’s time, the Greeks saw the whole story of a Savior dying on a cross as “foolishness.” (See. 1 Cor. 1:23) And things haven’t changed much over the centuries. Others have turned the cross into church decorations, necklaces and bracelet trinkets, wholly ignoring the terrible instrument of death that the cross represents. Still others … Continue reading –>

No More Wiped-Off Kisses: Forgiving and Loving My Dad

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 30, 2021 by Jennifer SchwirzerJune 17, 2021avatar

My mom and dad were decent people and my childhood, compared to some, a walk in the park. Nevertheless there were issues. Nothing so big it couldn’t be talked through, but that was the rub—we didn’t. It just wasn’t part of our family culture to repair conflict. We escalated, boiled over, yelled, stormed, stomped out, … Continue reading –>

Salvation is Not a “Zero Down” Deal

Sabbath School Net Posted on February 26, 2015 by Marcos David TorresOctober 4, 2015avatar
The Robe of Righteousness

In my last post1 I went over the four most common versions of salvation in the world and in the church. In the end I concluded all of them were pretty lame. However, I also proposed that the Bible teaches a fifth version, or better put the only version, and that is our topic today. So … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
