Introduction: My father was a great man. He was smart, loving, successful, and took our family to church every Sabbath. His father, my paternal grandfather, died before I was born. That made me want to learn more about my grandfather. It was frustrating. My father never said anything good about him and my grandmother was … Continue reading –>

The Goodness of God in the Last Days

Love scrabble tiles on book page

Several months ago, I had a “God moment,” which sent tingles down my spine. I was driving while my Pandora was playing Cece Winans’ “The Goodness of God.” In the middle of the song, a friend called, pausing it. He was talking about his work situation, which we had been praying over, and how God … Continue reading –>

Adam and Jesus

Daily Lesson for Wednesday 8th of April 2026 You probably know from memory the first words in the Bible: “In the beginning God.” In Hebrew, the word for God here is Elohim. Although this word can be used when talking about false “gods,” when it refers to the one true God, it describes an almighty, … Continue reading –>

Tuesday: God Is Love

Jesus Looking Over Earth

Daily Lesson for Tuesday 7th of April 2026 Love is perhaps the most common word used by Christians to describe God’s character. This could be because of the identity statement about God in 1 John 4:8, which says, “God is love.” John doesn’t say, “God is loving,” but rather, “God is love.” Love is His … Continue reading –>

The Lord Speaking to Moses

Daily Lesson for Monday 6th of April 2026 Holiness is not a word that most people use very often in their everyday language, perhaps because there are so few holy things around us and about us. The Sabbath is a holy day in time, and God is, of course, holy. Apart from God, our everyday … Continue reading –>

An Open Bible

Daily Lesson for Sunday 5th of April 2026 The Bible gives the truest, clearest, and most consistent picture of God. The entire Bible seeks to peel back the unseen veil between our visible world and the invisible; to show us where we’ve come from and where we’re going; and, ultimately, to show us who is … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
