Monday: The “Why” Questions

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 20, 2016 by Sabbath School LessonMarch 26, 2016avatar
Man Juggling Questions

The opening verses of Genesis describe the earth as being “without form, and void” (Gen. 1:2). This same phrase is repeated by Jeremiah to describe the earth after its destruction by the seven last plagues and the Second Coming, with every city on earth “broken down at the presence of the LORD”(Jer. 4:26, NKJV). In … Continue reading –>

Sunday: Binding Satan

A Cross Unlocking a Lock With Chains.

Read Revelation 20:1-3. What is being described here, and what hope does it offer us? Binding or being bound is used in a number of ways in the Bible. On the simplest level it applies to a prisoner. Jesus loosed many who had been bound by Satan. Furthermore, the act of binding is used to … Continue reading –>

Friday: Further Thought – The Church Militant

God the Father With the Son

Thursday’s study touched on the divinity of Christ. Why is that so important? Ellen G. White wrote: “Since the divine law is as sacred as God Himself, only one equal with God could make atonement for its transgression. None but Christ could redeem fallen man from the curse of the law, and bring him again … Continue reading –>

Thursday: The Church at Laodicea

Laodicea also gets some descriptions of Jesus: “‘the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness,’” and “‘the Beginning of the creation of God’”(Rev. 3:14, NKJV). These descriptions are key aspects of the divinity of Christ. The “Amen” is a reference to Isaiah 65:16, where the word “Amen” is translated “the God of truth,” and is linked … Continue reading –>

Wednesday: The Church at Philadelphia

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 15, 2016 by Sabbath School LessonMarch 19, 2016avatar

Read Revelation 3:7. What are the ways that Jesus is introduced to this church? What do these descriptions tell us about Him? The church is commended for keeping Christ’s word and for not denying His name, even though their strength appears to be quite weak (Rev. 3:8). Jesus makes an intriguing promise that members of … Continue reading –>

12 The Church Militant – Discussion Topics

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 15, 2016 by Joyce GriffithJune 16, 2017Joyce Griffith

1. Seven churches. If we are living in the last days and identify most closely with the Laodicean church, do we even need to study God’s message to the other six churches? Or is it possible that each church has a message for us? Or that in our Christian experience we may struggle with the problems … Continue reading –>

Never Too Old For God to Use

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 14, 2016 by William EarnhardtMarch 25, 2016avatar

Jean just passed away at the age of 94. She lost her husband a couple years earlier, and then became ill with cancer. She was telling her daughter she did not even know why she was still living. She felt old and useless. But one day her young health care nurse came for a routine visit. She told … Continue reading –>

Tuesday: Thyatira and Sardis

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 14, 2016 by Sabbath School LessonMarch 19, 2016avatar
Bright and Morning Star

Read Revelation 2:18-3:6. What are some of the issues going on in these churches, and in what ways are we, as a church and as individuals, struggling with the same things? How is the great controversy revealed in these struggles? The introduction of Jesus to the church at Thyatira (Rev. 2:18) reveals an increasingly trying … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
