1: Crisis of Identity – Singing with Inspiration

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 27, 2020 by Corinne KnopperDecember 27, 2020avatar

Welcome to the First Quarter of lesson study for 2021. Our memory verse gives us a number of hymns about our scarlet and crimson sins being made as white as snow: Hymn 184 – Jesus Paid It All, Hymn 279 – Only Trust Him, Hymn 296 – Lord, I’m Coming Home, Hymn 297 – God … Continue reading –>

Sacrificial Knife and Blood

(Isa. 1:10-17) Read Isaiah 1:10. Why do you think he was using the imagery of Sodom and Gomorrah? What point was the Lord making? Read Isaiah 1:11-15. What is the Lord telling the people there? Why did the Lord reject the worship that His people were offering Him? The same hands that offered sacrifices and were lifted … Continue reading –>

Isaiah 1:1-9 The book of Isaiah briefly introduces itself by identifying the author (“son of Amoz”), the source of his message (a “vision”), and his topic (Judah and its capital, Jerusalem, during the reign of four kings). The topic also identifies Isaiah’s primary audience as the people of his own country during the time in … Continue reading –>

Isaiah: Introduction

“Comfort My People” From the time they were first uttered, the words of the prophet Isaiah have been etched, even embedded, into our consciousness. There are unforgettable words, heavy laden not only with meaning but with hope and with promise, words like “God is with us” (Isa: 7:14, TLB), “For unto us a child is born” (Isa: … Continue reading –>

No Quiet Work on Sabbath By Gary Rogers My construction crew had everything ready for the roofing to go onto Essential Life Center, an urban center of influence that we were building in Cambodia’s second-largest city, Battambang. So I called a company in the capital, Phnom Penh, to supply workers to install the roof. Before … Continue reading –>

Little Girl Examining the Wounds in His Hands

As we have seen this whole quarter, one central aspect of Christ’s ministry here on earth was that of a teacher. From the beginning of His ministry, whether through acts or deeds, Jesus was constantly teaching His followers truths about Himself, about the Father, about salvation, and about the hope that awaits us (see Matt: 5:2, Mark 4:2, Luke … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
