Spectacles on Bible

Further Thought: “‘Now is the judgment of this world,’ Christ continued; ‘now shall the prince of this world be cast out. And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all unto Me. This He said, signifying what death He should die.’ This is the crisis of the world. If I become … Continue reading –>

Waiting on the Lord

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 15, 2016 by Richard FergusonDecember 25, 2016avatar

When I became a Christian, I often wondered what people meant when they said they were “waiting on the Lord.” From my observations, it looked to me to be a very passive activity. So I asked people what they meant by “waiting on the Lord.” Most said that they were praying and waiting for the … Continue reading –>

The Deceiver

Read John 12:30–32. What is Jesus saying about Satan in the context of the Cross and the great controversy? After talking about the death of Jesus on the cross, Ellen G. White wrote about the powerful impact it had in heaven and for the onlooking universe. “Satan’s lying charges against the divine character and government … Continue reading –>

Christ with Crown of Thorns on Cross

Read Isaiah 53:1–6. What does this tell us about the sufferings of the Lord on the cross? Isaiah 53:4 said that Jesus bore our griefs and sorrows. That must include Job’s griefs and sorrows, as well. And not just Job’s but the whole world’s. It was for the sin of all humans who ever lived … Continue reading –>

Christ suffering on Cross

What do the following texts tell us about Jesus and how we are to view Him? 1 John 2:6, Gal. 4:19 Without question, Jesus is the model man. His life—His character—is the example that all who follow Him should seek by God’s grace to emulate. Jesus is the only perfect example we have in terms of how … Continue reading –>

Jesus is the Way

The End in Sight. As we reach the conclusion of the story of Job do you see Job’s position as evidence of an unrelenting war between Christ and Satan? As often as you have studied the book of Job and considered its spiritual implications, have you been blessed this time through with one or more new … Continue reading –>

Scoffers at the Cross

In the earliest chapters of Job, we were given a glimpse into the reality of the great controversy between Christ and Satan. As we know, it was a battle that started in heaven but eventually came to the earth (see Rev. 12:7–12). In the book of Job we saw that same dynamic: a conflict in … Continue reading –>

What Time is Sunset?

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 10, 2016 by William EarnhardtMarch 2, 2017avatar

During the 1992 U.S. presidential debate, George Bush Sr. glanced at his watch, and lost the election. Many speculate, that by looking at his watch, Bush was disconnecting from his audience while a young Clinton was charming them. When we watch the clock on Sabbath are we disconnecting from God? God gave us the Sabbath to … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
