The memory verse gives us two hymns: Hymn 378, “Go, Preach My Gospel” and Hymn 354, “Thy Love, O God”. Compassion for the poor and oppressed is voiced in Hymn 353, “Father, Help Your People” and Hymn 352, “This Is My Will”. Are we ready to go and help? Hymn 359, “Hark! The Voice of … Continue reading –>

Hymn 72, “Creator of the Stars of Night” reflects well on the title of this week’s study, “Worship the Creator”. Other hymns that use the name of Maker, rather than Creator, are:  Hymn 15, “My Maker and My King”,  Hymn 37, “O Sing, My Soul, Your Maker’s Praise”,  Hymn 57, “Now All the Woods Are Sleeping”, … Continue reading –>

“God Has Spoken by His Prophets” – Hymn 413 reminds us of the title of our Lesson study for this week. The call to justice is sung in  Hymn 285, “Jesus Calls Us” and in  Hymn 359, “Hark! The Voice of Jesus Calling”. The prophets did point to us all to : “Stand Up! Stand Up for … Continue reading –>

4: Mercy and Justice in Psalms and Proverbs – Singing with Inspiration

The most-loved and well-known Psalm is in Hymn 546 or 552, “The Lord’s My Shepherd”. The Psalms are songs of hope (Sunday) as is  Hymn 214, “We Have This Hope”, as is  Hymn 5, “All My Hope on God Is Founded”, Hymn 440, “How Cheering Is the Christian’s Hope” and  Hymn 522, “My Hope Is Built on Nothing … Continue reading –>

Good morning to a wonderful Sabbath Day of rest:  Hymn 40, “The Dawn of God’s Dear Sabbath”. 2: Blueprint for a Better World – Singing With Inspiration

Sabbath School Net Posted on July 8, 2019 by Corinne KnopperJuly 8, 2019avatar
Playing notes of hymns

Sabbath afternoon’s reading had the theme of ‘bless, blessed, blessing’, giving us our first hymn today,  Hymn 293, “Heavenly Father, Bless Us Now”, just as God blessed so many throughout our past history. We may continue further singing  Hymn 667, “Lord, Bless Thy Word to Every Heart”. ‘The God Who Hears’ (Sunday) is summed up … Continue reading –>

“God Be Merciful to Me” (Hymn 297) a sinner and keep my heart turned to You, ready for Jesus to come very soon. May we  “Lift Up the Trumpet and Loud Let It Ring” (Hymn 213) as often as is possible. We continue to ask: “O for a Heart to Praise My God!” (Hymn 323) so that we … Continue reading –>

12: What have They Seen in Your House – Singing with Inspiration

The memory text shows a chosen generation – those who can pour out thanks to God in  Hymn 276, “Thanks to God”, Hymn 694/695, “Praise God from Whom all Blessings Flow”, Hymn 1, “Praise to the Lord”, or  Hymn 276, “Thanks to God”. 11: Families of Faith – Singing with Inspiration

Sabbath School Net Posted on June 10, 2019 by Corinne KnopperJune 10, 2019avatar
Playing notes of hymns

Our memory text this week, has us looking to Jesus as does Hymn 507, “Moment by Moment”. With Jesus guiding us, the cultural changes that challenge us, should not have great sway as we sing  Hymn 301, “Nearer, Still Nearer”. Sunday’s study instantly shows us  Hymn 600, “Hold Fast Till I Come”. With this in … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
