The Persecution of the Peace Makers

Sabbath School Net Posted on June 10, 2018 by William EarnhardtJune 22, 2018avatar

That very day Pilate and Herod became friends with each other, for previously they had been at enmity with each other. Luke 23:12 NKJV Jesus was the common foe uniting political enemies. So it will be in the last days.  Political enemies will be united as commandment-keeping Christians become the common foe of all nations.  … Continue reading –>

Truly Worshiping God Means Truly Trusting Him

Sabbath School Net Posted on June 7, 2018 by William EarnhardtJanuary 12, 2019avatar
Jesus Watching a Man Reading Scripture

Tuesday’s section of this week’s lesson asks, “How can we make sure we aren’t involved in any false worship?” It seems the question between true worship and false worship boils down to who we really trust. For example, the children of Israel turned to Aaron’s golden calf when they didn’t trust Moses to return. Saul … Continue reading –>

Can the Dead Talk to Us?

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 29, 2018 by William EarnhardtJune 7, 2018avatar

A Bible student excitedly told me about a movie he saw where someone died and went to heaven where he saw his dead loved ones. When I reminded him about the state of the dead, he told me, “Well maybe they did not actually die. Maybe it was a dream.” He was quite emotional about the movie … Continue reading –>

Did the Repentant Thief Get Off Easy?

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 24, 2018 by William EarnhardtMay 29, 2018avatar

Many Christians squirm and struggle with the story of the repentant thief being saved without “putting in his time” or “earning” it. This story alone makes salvation look too easy. But where in Scripture does it say salvation is supposed to be hard? How hard did Adam and Eve work to be placed in paradise … Continue reading –>

The Gift of Prophecy

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 14, 2018 by William EarnhardtMay 24, 2018avatar

Referring to the latter days, Jesus in Matthew 24:24 warns of false prophets. Of course you can’t impersonate someone who is not real, so obviously Jesus recognized that the gift of prophecy would still be given out in the latter days. Joel 2:28-31 also tells us there will be those with the gift of prophecy … Continue reading –>

Inconsistencies with Lawlessness

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 10, 2018 by William EarnhardtMay 14, 2018avatar
Love is the heart of the Law.

Friday’s section of this week’s lesson asks, “What is the problem with those who talk about the reality of sin and yet argue that God’s law has been done away with? What great inconsistency can you point out in that line of reasoning?” There are many inconsistencies when people try to do away with the … Continue reading –>

The Gospel Presentation

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 23, 2018 by William EarnhardtMay 6, 2018avatar

With this week’s lesson titled, “Salvation and the End Time,“ this is a good time to think about how we can share the hope of salvation with those those around us.  “More people than we think are longing to find the way to Christ. Those who preach the last message of mercy should bear in mind … Continue reading –>

I Am Living in My Last Days

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 18, 2018 by William EarnhardtApril 23, 2018avatar

In 1979 when I was 14, I received a letter from the Tulsa Roughnecks major league soccer (football) team, asking me to renew my season tickets for the 1980 season. I could not believe my eyes. There it was – “1980” in print! Growing up Seventh-day Adventist, I was told we were in the “last days.” The … Continue reading –>

Two Things I Love About Daniel

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 9, 2018 by William EarnhardtApril 18, 2018avatar

As we take a look at Daniel in this week’s lesson I am reminded that there are a couple of things I love about Daniel, that sometimes get overlooked. When his neck was on the line, I like how Daniel responded when God revealed to him the king’s dream.  Then Daniel went in to see … Continue reading –>

Be Ready Always

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 6, 2018 by Linda MkhwanaziJanuary 12, 2019avatar

During an April holiday some years ago, I was house-sitting for Mrs. Brown* (pseudonym for my mother’s employer). Since this was my usual holiday job, I knew the rules around the house. The April holidays in South Africa are very short – just a mini break from school and work. On a Friday evening, a week … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
