Suffering for a Purpose Brings Happiness

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 3, 2017 by William EarnhardtMay 12, 2017avatar
I am with you always

I often begin my group Bible studies by having each member share a high and a low for their week. I wonder, if we asked God how His week went, what He would say? We may have seen a child mistreated, but God cried with every child on earth who was mistreated. We may have … Continue reading –>

How Do We Get Elected by God?

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 22, 2017 by William EarnhardtDecember 8, 2017avatar
Jesus Reaching Out

This quarter’s Sabbath School lessons, provide interesting discussions on predestination and election, making me examine what I believe. I became especially intrigued by the word “elect.” What does it mean, and how does one become elected? God has not elected only a select group to be saved I find nowhere in the Bible that God has … Continue reading –>

Lessons From a Famous New Zealander

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 12, 2017 by Maurice AshtonApril 13, 2017avatar

A couple of days ago John Clarke died. He dropped dead of natural causes at the age of 68 doing what he loved best; bush-walking with his family and photographing birds. John Clarke is a household name in Australia and New Zealand (Fred Dagg for NZers), well known as a TV personality, satirist and critic … Continue reading –>

The Jesus Peter Knew

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 12, 2017 by William EarnhardtApril 21, 2017avatar

I have met a few people who have an image of Jesus in their minds, not based on Scripture, but on speculation. As a child I became interested in futball (soccer for U.S.A readers) and mentioned to my family that the game is so old Jesus may have played a form of futbal as a … Continue reading –>

Did God Predestinate Us to be Lost or Saved?

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 8, 2017 by William EarnhardtDecember 20, 2017avatar

Satan knows our salvation is found in the love of God. Therefore he does his best to misrepresent the love of God that shines from the cross. One horrendous way he does that is by presenting a “gospel” in which the unbeliever, instead of perishing, is burned and tortured throughout the ceaseless ages of eternity. Another way he skews … Continue reading –>

Mentoring and Coaching vs Grooming

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 27, 2017 by William EarnhardtApril 7, 2017avatar

A while back I was watching my favorite show at the time, Unsolved Mysteries. This episode was about a young boy who was mentored by a young man. Since it was Unsolved Mysteries, where we’re often told to call the 1-800-876-5353 number (still works btw) to catch the bad guys, I was bracing myself for the … Continue reading –>

Modesty: It’s Not About Sex, It’s About the Holy Spirit

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 10, 2017 by William EarnhardtSeptember 2, 2017avatar
The Holy Spirit and Baptism

Then they came to Jesus, and saw the one who had been demon-possessed and had the legion, sitting and clothed and in his right mind. Mark 5:15 NKJV When the demoniac became converted, he was clothed and in his right mind. So today, the closer we come to Jesus the more appropriately we dress. In … Continue reading –>

“In the Spirit”

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 6, 2017 by William EarnhardtMarch 12, 2017avatar
The Holy Spirit at Creation

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.  John 4:24 I am sure that you have friends that no matter how long you are apart from them, once you get together, your friendship resumes right where it left off, as though you had never been apart. … Continue reading –>

A Counterfeit Gift of the Spirit

Sabbath School Net Posted on February 27, 2017 by William EarnhardtMarch 6, 2017avatar
The Spirit Moving

Last week we studied about the gifts of the Spirit. This week we are studying about the Holy Spirit and the church. Satan has a counterfeit for most everything. There are some people in the church, who claim to have the gift of “discerning spirits,” when in reality they have Satan’s “gift” of judging and … Continue reading –>

Nobody Is Better Than Anybody Else

Sabbath School Net Posted on February 19, 2017 by William EarnhardtFebruary 27, 2017avatar

In Matthew 17, Peter, James and John were invited to an exclusive experience of the kingdom of God when they witnessed the transfiguration of Christ. Moses and Elijah were there as well, Moses representing those who will die before seeing the kingdom, and Elijah represented those who will be alive when Christ returns and will never experience … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
