Knowing Bible Teachings Helps Us Understand Revelation — 6 Comments

  1. I have been reading the Bible for many years but I don’t understand how to “study” it. Would you help me?

    • Hi Connie, I’m happy to hear you want to study the Bible and not just read it! You will find so much blessing in deeper study of the Word of God.

If you go to the menu on this site, there is a drop down called “resources” which has information and Bible studies that are already set up in a way that sets a foundation for independent study. And if you have a Bible with cross references, as many Bibles do, you can look up the cross references for each passage as you study. This can often give you more context and background on what you are reading, if you also read the passage the cross reference is a part of.

If you have questions, usually someone on this forum can help you answer them. You might get a sooner response on the daily lessons. And the daily lessons can also help you study more in depth, if you follow along with the Bible readings. The suggested Ellen White readings within the lesson are also helpful for clarification.

I pray you will be blessed and grow closer to God as you seek Him!

  2. Coming from a region of spiritualism and belief in consciousness of the dead, I find more peace in understanding that the dead are unconscious as revealed from the bible. Sometimes I ask myself, how much more stressed life would be knowing that the dead loved ones watches over us but can join in this life.
Just as Paul advised the Thesalonians in Thesalonians 5:21, it’s time we stopped believing everything.

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
