The Lesson

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Ephesians 4:11-12 KJV I follow a Facebook page made up of thousands of people from my hometown of Tulsa, … Continue reading –>

Worthy Is the Lamb – Hit the Mark

Sabbath School Net Posted on January 23, 2019 by Curtis HallAugust 24, 2020avatar
A woman holding up her arms in praise, after Jesus heals her.

This week’s lesson, Worthy Is the Lamb, presents quite a challenge for me as a Sabbath school teacher. Because of the nature of the book of Revelation, it can be easy to just have a forward-looking history class. For example, the facts outlined in this week’s lesson from Revelation 4 & Revelation 5 are noteworthy … Continue reading –>

Adult Holding Child's Hand

It was November, 1966. My husband was in the Army and I was at home with our young son. Our second child was due in January. The princely sum of $183.10 a month (the Army allotment for dependents) didn’t go very far. First, I would lay aside the tithe, then the house payment of $64. … Continue reading –>

Ruin Satan’s Day

Sabbath School Net Posted on July 23, 2012 by William EarnhardtAugust 12, 2014avatar

Has Satan ever tried to ruin your day? Well let me tell you about when I ruined his day. Years ago, I was driving in the middle of the night across country to see my sister and see about a job. I had just quit a job that was not working out and had no … Continue reading –>

Thanksgiving Reflections on God’s Grace

Sabbath School Net Posted on November 23, 2011 by Tyler ClutheSeptember 1, 2013avatar

Most of us have an animal of some sort as a pet. I think I’ve always chosen a cat as a pet because a cat doesn’t require a lot of care. In the day it just finds a little place, curls up and goes to sleep. When it gets hungry it tells me, when it … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
