Group of Believers Holding Hands

Daily Lesson for Monday 3rd of August 2026 The language of oneness introduced in 1 Corinthians 12:4-6 (“the same Spirit,” “the same Lord,” and “the same God”) is developed in the rest of 1 Corinthians 12:1-31. This is evidenced by Paul’s use of phrases such as “one and the same Spirit” (1 Corinthians 12:11, NKJV), … Continue reading –>

Prepared for Sabbath School Class on August 8. Key Text: “Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy” (1 Corinthians 14:1, ESV). Read in Class: 1 Corinthians 12:1-2, 27-31. Study: What is Paul’s main emphasis, and why is the analogy of a body with its many parts appropriate to represent … Continue reading –>

Man Giving Food to Another

Daily Lesson for Sunday 2nd of August 2026 In 1 Corinthians 12:1, Paul introduces a new topic with the formula “now concerning.” Scholars discuss whether he is talking about “spiritual gifts” or “spiritual people” because the Greek phrase tōn pneumatikōn allows both interpretations. “Spiritual gifts” is preferable in light of 1 Corinthians 12:4, where Paul … Continue reading –>

Hit the Mark – Unlimited Possibilities

Sabbath School Net Posted on August 3, 2020 by Curtis HallAugust 3, 2020avatar

“You’re gonna need a bigger boat” That was uttered by Sheriff Martin Brody in the iconic movie “Jaws.” In search of a killer shark, it was an admission that everyone had underestimated the size of their target.  Similarly, at my first glance at this week’s topic, Unlimited Possibilities, I expected that I would share routine thoughts … Continue reading –>

09: Releasing into Ministry – Thought Starters

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 29, 2012 by Joyce GriffithDecember 8, 2014Joyce Griffith

“Mel, I’m going to throw these bossy lesson guides into the trash. They aren’t helping me a bit!” “What? That’s a ridiculous thing for a Sabbath school teacher to say. I think these lessons are great.” “But they’re written like a set of management lessons to give to managers at work.”  “Except the work is on a … Continue reading –>

Gifted

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 17, 2012 by Lillianne LopezMay 27, 2015avatar

Once upon a time, in the land of Gifted, lived some very miserable people. They trudged through the streets of Gifted every day carrying huge burdens on their backs. A visitor to Gifted once asked why the people of Gifted carried these heavy burdens with them day after day. The answer was surprising. The visitor … Continue reading –>

03: Spiritual Gifts – Thought Starters

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 17, 2012 by Joyce GriffithSeptember 9, 2014Joyce Griffith

Gifts of the spiritual kind “Spiritual gifts,” Donna said. “Why do I always get nervous when we talk about spiritual gifts?”1 Dean cleared his throat. “Well, it’s true,” Donna said. “Every time we start talking about spiritual gifts it ends up as a long meeting with even longer forms to fill out, and then we’re … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
