04: Being and Doing – Thought Starters

Sabbath School Net Posted on October 21, 2014 by Joyce GriffithOctober 25, 2014Joyce Griffith

[Thought Questions for Being and Doing October 21, 2014] 1. It’s not enough to be able to see and hear. Do you think it would be harder to follow Jesus if you were deaf? or blind? Didn’t have much intellectual understanding? Does a thorough knowledge of God and His plan of salvation earn you a place in His eternal kingdom? What did the … Continue reading –>

Judged by Our Works?

Since 1981, when I began preaching in high school, I have preached in many churches from Chiclayo, Peru, to Torrington, Connecticut.  I have spoken to large and small congregations with various needs.  I have illustrated to some conservative churches the need to be a little more liberal, and to liberal churches, how to be a … Continue reading –>

The Sabbath In Light of The Cross

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 13, 2013 by William EarnhardtAugust 29, 2014avatar

“The sacrifice of Christ as an atonement for sin is the great truth around which all other truths cluster. In order to be rightly understood and appreciated, every truth in the Word of God, from Genesis to Revelation, must be studied in the light that streams from the cross of Calvary. I present before you … Continue reading –>

The Greatest Evidence There is a God

Sabbath School Net Posted on January 5, 2013 by William EarnhardtJuly 18, 2013avatar

“Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves….” Psalm 100:3 I entered the ICU in a Tampa hospital to pray with a family who was about to lose their mother. The mother was a Christian. The daughter was near believing, but I soon found … Continue reading –>

A Divine Interrruption

Adam is Formed

Happy New Year! I don’t do resolutions. I’ve observed two things—that humans have an indefatigable drive to fix themselves, and that it is utterly futile and fruitless. The only good that comes from our self-fixing is that some of us finally learn it’s impossible. Observe every world religion other than the faith of Jesus. Each … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
