The Final Goal of the Sacrifice — 8 Comments

  1. Thank you Pastor William. It is my understanding that what Jesus is doing in the sanctuary is directly related to what he is doing in our hearts.

    • A very good lesson on understanding the Gospel.
Adventist need to cherish the scriptures in Hebrews.
Christ atonement was complete at Calvary. No longer a need for a temple built with hands. To believe that Christ entered the Holy Place to minister as as a Levitical priest is gross error as well the Investigative Judgement. Christ after the order of Melchizedek both priest and King. His blood shed outside the gate, His blood sprinkled up on our hearts, AMEN!

      • Well, Hebrews tells us exactly that. The idea that Christ serves as our High Priest is very Biblical. Now, we have not always presented that teaching the best way, and that is another matter.

Yes, we are fully saved at the cross. But until we reach glory, we still need the intercession of Jesus. As saved as we may be, we all are very aware of our weaknesses and frailities. We need Jesus intercession to live the Christian life. I don’t see this at odds with the cross at all. Hebrews is very much a book of assurance as long as we stay with Christ.

  2. To me, this is the same concept as “are you in the church, or is the church in you?”. We are not meant to be “pew potatoes” here on earth, and we will never make it to the heavenly sanctuary without a saving, constant relationship with Christ. The passage you quoted from Ephesians 2:19-22 illustrates this very well. Because Jesus is the cornerstone, that means we are the rest of the temple, working together to create something harmonious and beautiful in representation of Christ’s glory and the glory of the Father.

  3. Amen! Pastor William I knew right where you were going because back at the garden sin had separated us from God and God is doing everything he can to bring us back to that face to face relationship that He created for us.
And yes I agree with how important the book of Hebrews is and if Jesus is dwelling in our temple by the Holy Spirit then this promise of the covenant will be fulfilled.

““This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,” then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.””
    ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭

  4. suggestion from the teacher’s comments: Invite a scientist to explain the complexity and mysteries of the human
body – Nah! check out an anatomy book from the library, especially from the children’s section, that hopefully will present it from a Christian perspective.

    • I imagine they were talking about a Christian scientist. We had a Christian scientist come to my Sabbath school class when I was a teenager. Made a very impressive presentation for creation.

  5. songs I’ve found to augment this week’s study:
Maranatha singers Psalms 27:4 One thing have I desired

Maranatha singers Psalm 84 – How lovely is your dwelling place

Maranatha singers Lord, I lift your name on high.

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
