Elijah at Mt Carmel

Read Luke 22:24-27. Even as the disciples were preparing for the Last Supper, they were arguing about who among them would be the greatest in the kingdom. How does Jesus respond to their foolishness, and what is so revolutionary about His reply? Jesus’ answer is unique in the history of leadership. Pharaoh, Nebuchadnezzar, Alexander, Julius … Continue reading –>

Following Jesus in Everyday Life – Hit the Mark

A tiny mustard seed is resting on a fingertip.

“And the apostles said to the Lord, Increase our faith.” Luke 17:5 I still have the keepsake my father gave me as a teen. It’s a mustard seed encased in glass. This trinket obviously symbolizes the power of small faith doing big things. In various ways over the years I have seen this same symbolism … Continue reading –>

[Thought questions for Following Jesus in Everyday Life June 2, 2015] Jesus the theologian. If theology is the study of God, was anybody ever better qualified than Jesus to teach this subject? Why do you think Jesus didn’t seem to be interested in establishing Himself as the world’s leading theological expert? Instead of longing to … Continue reading –>

The Sower

The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, in their eternal council before the foundation of the world (Eph. 1:4), laid the plan of salvation. That is, even before the first human was created and, of course, before the first humans sinned, God had a plan in place to rescue the world. The plan is … Continue reading –>

10: Following Jesus in Everyday Life – Lesson Plan

Sabbath School Net Posted on June 1, 2015 by Michael FrackerAugust 6, 2015Michael Fracker

Key Thought : If we are Christ’s, our thoughts are with Him, and our sweetest thoughts are of Him. All we have and are is consecrated to Him. We long to bear His image, breathe His Spirit, do His will, and please Him in all things. [Lesson plan for Following Jesus in Everyday Life June … Continue reading –>

Disaster Preparedness

Vigilance and fidelity have been required of Christ’s followers in every age; but now that we are standing upon the very verge of the eternal world, holding the truths we do, having so great light, so important a work, we must double our diligence.-Ellen G. White,Testimonies for the Church, vol. 5, pp. 460,461. Read Luke … Continue reading –>

Birds and Lillies

Fear God and give glory to Him (Rev. 14:7, NKJV) is the first of the three angels’ messages, so central to Seventh-day Adventists’ life and faith. Fearing God is not being afraid, as it is often thought to be. It is realizing just who God is and what His claims on us are. It is … Continue reading –>

Man With Burden Looks at Flower

Of the more than 80 references to Pharisees in the Gospels, approximately 25 percent of them are found in Luke. Pharisees were noted for their doctrinal conservatism, as opposed to Sadducees, who were known for their liberal ideas. Pharisees were often legalists who, while professing to believe in grace, taught salvation by the keeping of … Continue reading –>

Years ago Brett Favre, a famous American football quarterback said in a commercial, “The history books won’t record me as a quarterback, but as a football player.” As well as setting all kinds of passing records as a quarterback, Favre also was not afraid to block or even make tackles, if the other team got … Continue reading –>

Man Studying Bible

Tan grew up in a small city in southern China. Plagued with shyness, he found it difficult to talk to others and often felt intensely lonely. He thought religion was just superstition, and yet he somehow felt a spiritual longing. He decided to set out on an pilgrimage in search of peace. He journeyed to … Continue reading –>

In the Balance

In His life and lessons, Christ has given a perfect exemplification of the unselfish ministry which has its origin in God. God does not live for Himself. By creating the world, and by upholding all things, He is constantly ministering for others. He maketh His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
