Not Ashamed

Sabbath School Net Posted on July 3, 2012 by Lillianne LopezJuly 11, 2012avatar

Yesterday I was so mad at my father! He took this beautiful little lamb out behind the house and he killed it. Can you believe that? He said this guy, Moses, told him to, for some dumb reason. Dad tried to explain it to me, but I didn’t want to hear it. Especially when I … Continue reading –>

Guilty Bystander

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 31, 2012 by Lillianne LopezJune 6, 2012avatar

Do you know what a “wall flower” is? Someone, at a party who spends most of his or her time standing and watching, rather than participating. In the online world, “lurkers” are the folks who go into chat rooms or on discussion boards on the internet and just read what everybody was talking about, but … Continue reading –>

I Love Simple

Study Group

I love simple. Everything I own fits in the back of a small U-Haul truck with plenty of space left over. Still, about twice a year, I go through my apartment just looking for things to throw away to keep life simple and clutter free. When I was a kid I loved Taco Bell. Back … Continue reading –>

Apprenticed

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 22, 2012 by Lillianne LopezMay 27, 2015avatar

Have you ever tried to learn how to play a new game by just reading the directions? It’s pretty hard to do, isn’t it? It’s much easier if someone in the group already knows how to play the game and they walk you through the first couple of times. Have you ever wondered how skateboarders … Continue reading –>

Doe a Deer

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 30, 2012 by Lillianne LopezMay 10, 2012avatar

We’re having a Julie Andrews moment here. I’m sure you remember that song: “Let’s start at the very beginning; a very good place to start. When we read we begin with a, b, c; when we sing we begin with doe, ray, me…” But when we’re sharing the gospel of Jesus with someone, where do … Continue reading –>

Revolutionary Love

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 24, 2012 by Lillianne LopezMay 27, 2015avatar
Love overwhelms, Jesus heals

What was it that made Jesus so different from any of the other religious leaders of His time? Well, His message was clearly different – keeping the rules can’t save you, be a servant, love your enemies. That was all new stuff to the people of Jesus’ time. I think sometimes we forget how really different … Continue reading –>

Potato Chip Christians

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 13, 2012 by Lillianne LopezMay 27, 2015avatar

“The heart must receive the divine current, and let it flow out in rich streams of mercy and grace to other hearts. All who would win souls to Christ must be winsome.”1 “Winsome,” that’s an old fashioned word, isn’t it?2 It’s certainly not one we use very often. Here are some synonyms for the word, … Continue reading –>

Ultimate Romance

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 21, 2012 by Lillianne LopezMarch 22, 2013avatar

I’m embarrassed to admit that I have always been a hopeless romantic. I spent several years reading anything I could find that involved a love story.  I loved fairy tales long after they were considered age appropriate.  Then I would watch and re-watch those sappy old romantic movies.1 I think that most of us (guys, … Continue reading –>

User Interface

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 6, 2012 by Lillianne LopezApril 18, 2013avatar
Woman prays i the presence of Fire of God.

Do you know what a “user interface” is? If you do, please forgive me while I sound like I know what I’m talking about for a bit. The “user interface” is how the user (human) interacts with an electronic device. For example, on some computers, the user interface is the keyboard and mouse; tablet computers … Continue reading –>

Sabbath: Holy Ground

Sabbath School Net Posted on February 14, 2012 by Lillianne LopezFebruary 13, 2018avatar

How many hours of sleep do you get on an average night? Do you get the full eight, or do you feel lucky to get five? How many hours a week do you work (for pay)? How many more do you work at home? Do you ever feel really rested? I heard someone remembering being … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
