Monday: The Son of God

Sabbath School Net Posted on July 6, 2014 by Sabbath School LessonJuly 11, 2014avatar

The title Son of God was used not only by Gabriel (Luke 1:35) but also by several people when addressing Jesus (Matt. 14:33, Mark 15:39, John 1:49, John 11:27). He accepted that title but was very careful not to apply it directly to Himself, lest He be stoned to death. Nevertheless, the Bible does reveal … Continue reading –>

Sunday: The Son of Man

Sabbath School Net Posted on July 5, 2014 by Sabbath School LessonJuly 14, 2014avatar

This title, the Son of Man, was Jesus’ favorite designation for Himself. He referred to Himself as Son of Man more than eighty times. Other people never addressed Him that way. He, of course, selected this special designation for Himself with a purpose in mind. This idiomatic expression was common in the Old Testament. With … Continue reading –>

I Could . . .

Sabbath School Net Posted on July 4, 2014 by Jennifer SchwirzerJuly 8, 2014avatar

Today in the U.S. we commemorate the signing of America’s Declaration of Independence from Great Britain on July 4, 1776. When we finally won the war in 1783, America (named the United States in 1777), became a “sovereign state.” Notice the word “reign” in “sovereign,” indicating that we reign over ourselves. Are you thankful as … Continue reading –>

Inside Story: On Our Way Rejoicing

Sabbath School Net Posted on July 3, 2014 by Sabbath School LessonAugust 8, 2014avatar

I met the Savior while studying in a simple little Adventist school in my home village in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. God gave me a burden to spread the message of the Adventist faith, and I began to share my faith in the neighborhood around my home church. Then I learned about Global … Continue reading –>

Friday: Further Study: Our Loving Heavenly Father

Sabbath School Net Posted on July 3, 2014 by Sabbath School LessonJuly 4, 2014avatar

Further Study: Ellen G. White, A Personal God, pages 263-278, in Testimonies for the Church, vol. 8. In order to strengthen our confidence in God, Christ teaches us to address Him by a new name, a name entwined with the dearest associations of the human heart. He gives us the privilege of calling the infinite … Continue reading –>

01: Our Loving Heavenly Father – Hit the Mark

Sabbath School Net Posted on July 2, 2014 by Curtis HallJuly 7, 2014avatar

I don’t know where heaven is. Those who study space constantly find that what they understood to be the limits of space in reality are only gateways to more expansive space. Using man’s fastest conception of speed it would take millions of light years just to reach parts of what our most powerful telescopes reveal. It … Continue reading –>

Thursday: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit

Sabbath School Net Posted on July 2, 2014 by Sabbath School LessonJuly 8, 2014avatar

In different ways, Jesus taught and demonstrated that three divine Persons constitute the Godhead: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Although we cannot explain this truth rationally, we accept it by faith (like many of the truths revealed in Scripture), and together with Paul we strive to attain a full knowledge of the … Continue reading –>

He’s Not My Brother and You’re Not My Father

Sabbath School Net Posted on July 2, 2014 by William EarnhardtMay 18, 2015avatar

You are looking at my favorite Florida sunset picture out of all the ones I have taken. While I love the beauty of Florida I have discovered as I travel around, that Florida is not the only beautiful place in the world. The sunsets on the sea are not the only way God expresses His … Continue reading –>

Wednesday: The Compassionate Care of our Heavenly Father

Sabbath School Net Posted on July 1, 2014 by Sabbath School LessonJuly 5, 2014avatar

It is important to know that we are cared for. Even though some people may be indifferent and neglectful toward us, Jesus taught that our heavenly Father cares for us in every possible way. His mercy and tenderness are not subject to the ups and downs so common in human temperaments; His love is steadfast … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
