What is the Difference Between Faith and Presumption?

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 16, 2026 by William EarnhardtMay 16, 2026avatar
a large wave crashes against a building and wind turbines

As we study about having faith, in this week’s Sabbath School Lesson, let’s explore the difference between faith and presumption. It’s the difference between a cross-centered theology and the “prosperity gospel.” Faith is knowing God is with us in our trials, and even our tragedies. Presumption is thinkng that because we are Christians we are … Continue reading –>

Introduction: Are you ready to learn more about communicating with God? Last week we studied several Bible passages about prayer, including Jesus’ warning in Matthew 6 about praying in public for the purpose of impressing others. He also warned about using “empty phrases” and many words in prayer on the mistaken assumption that “more is … Continue reading –>

Anne Frank Did Not Just Die a Death. She Lived a Life

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 12, 2026 by William EarnhardtMay 19, 2026avatar
a book sitting on top of a wooden table

For years, I had known Anne Frank as a girl who died a death. I knew she wrote a diary and died in a World War II concentration camp at the age of 15. When her life should have begun blossoming, it came to an end. I suppose this is why I only knew her … Continue reading –>

6: Prayer Warriors – Sabbath School Lesson – Teaching Outline

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 6, 2026 by Bruce CameronMay 6, 2026Bruce Cameron
GoBible.org by Bruce Cameron

Introduction: If prayer is supposed to be a conversation with God, He must think I’m a really lousy conversationalist. I have a habit of mindlessly repeating phrases like, “Please, Lord, help.” Or “Thank you, Lord.” Part of my problem is that Jesus said, “Pray then like this” and gave us the Lord’s Prayer. See, Matthew … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
