3: Unity in Christ — 1 Corinthians 1 and 3, Philippians 2 — Teaching Outline

Sabbath School Net Posted on July 13, 2026 by Bruce CameronSeptember 14, 2026Bruce Cameron
GoBible.org by Bruce Cameron

Introduction: Have you seen a divided church? Have you ever entered a church where you could see the division simply by observing where people were sitting? I recall as a young man attending my grandmother’s church in Ironwood, Michigan. It appeared that all of the professionals sat on the left and those whose work did … Continue reading –>

3: Unity in Christ — Singing with Inspiration

Sabbath School Net Posted on July 12, 2026 by Corinne KnopperJuly 12, 2026avatar

Oh, the beauty of studying this quarter’s lessons. We will learn so much of the Love of God (and our Saviour, Jesus) which stands out in so many pages of this quarter. Trying to choose just one hymn for the Theme Hymn was almost impossible, but these ones stood out all through the lesson pamphlet … Continue reading –>

Corinth – the Backdrop For Paul’s Letter

Sabbath School Net Posted on July 10, 2026 by Inge AndersonJuly 15, 2026avatar

For good Sabbath afternoon viewing, see the video below created for our first lesson. I believe it will help us understand the rest of the two letters to the Corinthians, which we are studying. I know that, even after reading the letters multiple times, I gained a deeper understanding of them through a better grasp … Continue reading –>

Are We Still Missing the Message of the Cross?

Sabbath School Net Posted on July 8, 2026 by Inge AndersonJuly 8, 2026avatar

The Adventist creators of the YouTube channel Deep Made Simple do a great job of helping us understand what “the cross” meant at the time of Jesus and of Paul. It was not a good word. It was not a word you would even mention in Roman society. It was that bad. (See the video below for … Continue reading –>

2. The Message of the Cross — 1 Corinthians 1:17-31 — Teaching Outline

Sabbath School Net Posted on July 6, 2026 by Bruce CameronSeptember 14, 2026Bruce Cameron

Introduction: On the surface, our study this week seems incredibly odd. Last week we learned why Paul was entitled to call himself an “apostle.” But his background was nothing like the background of Jesus’ twelve disciples. Paul had a premier theological education (Acts 22:3), he was Pharisee, and he wrote more New Testament books than … Continue reading –>

2. The Message of the Cross -Discussion Starters

Sabbath School Net Posted on July 6, 2026 by Robert NohrJuly 6, 2026Robert Nohr

Historian Tom Holland, in his book Dominion, argues that the crucifixion of the Son of God is the most radically transformative idea in the history of humanity, for it completely inverts worldly perception of power, strength, hierarchy/status, human dignity, and morality. Agree or disagree? Why?     The Roman Empire used crucifixion to demonstrate its absolute … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
