Sabbath School Net Posted on March 12, 2014 by Joyce GriffithApril 27, 2015Joyce Griffith

[Thought questions for Discipling Spiritual Leaders March 12, 2014] 1. Choosing the Twelve. 11: Discipling Spiritual Leaders – Hit the Mark

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 12, 2014 by Curtis HallJuly 14, 2014avatar

Wax on… wax off. Wax on… wax off You might recognize that phrase from the 1984 hit movie, “The Karate Kid.” A young student is expecting to learn karate but his teacher, Mr. Miyagi, gives him seemingly mundane jobs that are unrelated to karate. Daniel, the young star of the movie, is given the task … Continue reading –>

Sunday: Leadership Starts Here

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 8, 2014 by Sabbath School LessonJuly 14, 2014avatar

Christ’s earthly sojourn was relatively brief. Therefore, the training of disciple-makers was imperative. Whom should He select? How many should He choose? Jesus’ disciples doubtless numbered in the hundreds. Should everyone undergo mass education? Christ understood that leadership was cultivated effectively within small groups, not mass-produced through lectureships. Limited numbers would be chosen for Christ’s … Continue reading –>

09: Discipling the Powerful – Hit the Mark

Sabbath School Net Posted on February 27, 2014 by Curtis HallMarch 1, 2014avatar

I saw it the minute I pulled into the parking lot of a large, modern church building. There in bold letters was a clear indication of the spirit of this church. You’re probably thinking I am referring to the church marque. It’s usually there where a church makes an attempt to share a little of … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
