Significance of One Ordinary Person — 9 Comments

    • Thanks for such a succinct summary, Curtis 🙂

It reminds me of Christ and Paul telling us that all things are possible to them that believe. (Matt. 9:23; Phil. 4:13)

      And this:

"All who consecrate soul, body, and spirit to God will be constantly receiving a new endowment of physical and mental power. The inexhaustible supplies of heaven are at their command. ... Through co-operation with Christ they are complete in Him, and in their human weakness they are enabled to do the deeds of Omnipotence." Desire of Ages, p. 827

      I know it's true.

For instance, when early in 2011, I was under the strong conviction that Sabbath School Net should have a blog associated with it, I felt I was too busy already and sent out feelers to volunteers already working with me on the Sabbath School Net mailing list. No replies. (I suspect they figured they were busy enough already, which was reasonable.) But the conviction did not leave me, and I went ahead in faith and started developing the blog as I looked for other helpers. And God worked many miracles to get this project off the ground, sending helpers from unexpected places, even when our main web coder quit in protest over the blog. Our web traffic has gone up continuously, both on the weekly lessons and on the blog section, indicating to me that Sabbath School Net is meeting a need.

When we feel our weakness, God supplies the needed strength. (By the way, I'm still looking for more helpers. 🙂 )

It would be really nice to hear from others how God enabled them to do great things. And I'm sure there are stories out there of very "ordinary" people converted and going on to do extraordinary things, without a lot of people knowing about them. Would love to read their stories ..

      • I am so grateful, Inge, that you listened to God's leading ad went ahead in faith. I love the Sabbath school lessons but like any time when we discuss what God has been doing I often hunger for more; this is what the blogs provide for me. The different personal applications and views give me more to contemplate, identify with and, apply to my personal walk with Jesus. Thank you and may God continue to bless you and provide you with an abundance of joy.

  1. I love reading and hearing stories, testimonies of non-believers who found Christ and bought their whole entire family into the church after battling many years of criticism from them. Trust and Obey is what I see in every bible story I have read of individuals who where called, but it takes our faith, to Trust that God will see his will accomplished, and for us to obey his instructions that will guide us thru any road blocks that we may encounter:)

  2. I don't have a SS Quarterly and here is where I do my study. I'm not a deep thinker and I appreciate all the thought provoking and the comments that enlarge my understanding. May the Lord continue to bless you in laboring for the kingdom of heaven and you will see the result in heaven. Maranatha!

  3. Inge,
Although I don't post much, I do read a lot. I can't thank you enough and a host of others who regularly respond on this blog. It has alway been an inspiration to me! I pray that God will continue to use me, an ordinary individual to be bold and help finish this work so we can go home and see the face of Jesus!

  4. Inge,
Just want to thank God for your ministry. It gives me an opportunity to share these experiences presented in this blog with other for a deeper experience as they study.Though I may not post very often I have benefited from all the contributors. I believe many more can concur with me. may we all allow the Holy Spirit to dwell in our lives daily , so that we can heed his voice and follow His direction in the way he wished to use us for His glory. May this lesson remind us not to view others just with our naked eye, but through the lens and heart of Christ Jesus. A spirit filled day and a productive work week to one and all.

  5. Thank you all for your comments supportive of the SSNET blog. Knowing that this blog served a godly purpose in the lives of many makes the work worthwhile,

And you know, as I thought about SSNET and "ordinary" people, I thought of William Earnhardt who regularly reminds us he's just a "simple person." But it is evident that God uses him for His purposes.

And then there are all the others who contribute behind the scenes. They do their work behind the scenes, but each "ordinary person" has a specific place in God's service.

And He can use you, dear reader.

Surely you must have some stories of how God used just one "ordinary person." Please share them!

  6. Inge I am very thankful and proud to be a part of the SSNET family! By being able to have discussions with fellow Christian believers all around the world, it makes me truly understand that the Adventist family is a world wide family. It comforts and encourages me to know that we have family all over the world who share a common goal of wanting to love and serve Jesus and help others prepare for His soon coming!
