I have had a rough couple of months when it comes to driving – I’ve gotten three tickets! One was because I didn’t “stop” when I was turning right on a red light, and the other two were for speeding. All three were my fault. I couldn’t say the red light camera didn’t actually have … Continue reading –>

Thursday: Death and Resurrection

Person Rising from Grave

In the New Testament, one of the events connected with the second coming of Christ is the resurrection of those who died believing in Him. In fact, as far as most believers are concerned, that is the most important part of the Second Coming, because most of Christ’s followers will be dead when He returns. … Continue reading –>

The Scapegoat and the Sanctuary

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 17, 2012 by William EarnhardtMay 29, 2018avatar

There is a song I remember singing a hundred years ago, when I was a teenager. It went something like this, “I owed a debt I could not pay. He paid a debt He did not owe.” Beautiful song, but not exactly theologically correct if you want to get technical. And no, I do not … Continue reading –>

Monday: The Heavenly Sanctuary: Part 2

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 16, 2012 by Sabbath School LessonFebruary 14, 2016avatar

The earthly sanctuary service revealed three phases of salvation: substitutionary sacrifice, priestly mediation, and judgment. The Bible teaches that all three phases of salvation are embodied in the ministry of Christ on behalf of sinners. Read Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:24-25; 2 Corinthians 5:21. How does Christ’s death on the cross satisfy the substitutionary aspect of salvation? What do these … Continue reading –>

Sunday: The Heavenly Sanctuary: Part 1

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 15, 2012 by Sabbath School LessonFebruary 14, 2016avatar

Fundamental Belief No. 24 opens with the following words: “There is a sanctuary in heaven – the true tabernacle which the Lord set up and not man” (see Heb. 8:2). One of the matter-of-fact assumptions of the Bible is the existence of a heavenly sanctuary (Ps. 11:4). Read Hebrews 8:1-5. What is the main point taught in these verses? … Continue reading –>

Real or Right?

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 11, 2012 by Jennifer SchwirzerOctober 27, 2025avatar

During the Billy Graham era, while the evangelical movement retained the flavor of modernism, the preaching emphasis seemed to my young adult mind to be “getting right” with God. During that time I became a Christian and then a Seventh-day Adventist. Everything felt right. I got right with God, began worshiping on the right day, … Continue reading –>

Growing Up From Flower Girl to Bride

Sabbath School Net Posted on October 29, 2012 by William EarnhardtFebruary 14, 2016avatar

When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.  1 Corinthians 13:11 Many of us became Christians for childish reasons. We just wanted to go to heaven. That is okay. Jesus tells us … Continue reading –>

Destruction and Sorrow

And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom [is] as the sand of the sea. And they went … Continue reading –>

Restoration

Sabbath School Net Posted on October 18, 2012 by Lillianne LopezMarch 22, 2013avatar

There’s a TV show that my family and I watch called American Restoration. The star is Rick Dale. 1 Watching Rick restore whatever his clients bring in is an amazing process. Usually what they bring in has been dropped, crushed, rusted or in some other way destroyed. But after Rick and his employees have worked … Continue reading –>

The Great Controversy and the Sin of Unbelief

Sabbath School Net Posted on October 3, 2012 by William EarnhardtNovember 4, 2017avatar

In order to have victory over sin, we must properly define sin. I believe the sin defined in John 16:9 is the cause of the sin in 1 John 3:4. Thus we must deal with the sin of unbelief in John 16:9 as our primary definition of sin. As we take a look at this … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
