None to Welcome Him

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 18, 2013 by William EarnhardtDecember 18, 2013avatar

Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking,  “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.” King Herod was deeply disturbed when he heard this, as … Continue reading –>

A Detour

At that time the Roman emperor, Augustus, decreed that a census should be taken throughout the Roman Empire.  (This was the first census taken when Quirinius was governor of Syria.)  All returned to their own ancestral towns to register for this census.  And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go … Continue reading –>

The Lamb Wins . . . Us

Solomon and the Shulamite

I have a couple of young male friends who once made a science of flirting. They read books about it, fastidiously putting what they learned into practice. Until talking to them, I never knew of the volumes of material written on the subject. I assumed people just followed their instincts. No. Flirting has been raised … Continue reading –>

It will be a great review for a subject which we, as a church, … Continue reading –>

Disappointment to Discovery!

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 6, 2013 by William EarnhardtMarch 9, 2016avatar

1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue, and while he thought he was finding a short cut to India what he found was a whole “new world.” Now granted, the millions of people already living there already knew about it, and there is evidence of visitors well before Columbus. Still that does not change the point … Continue reading –>

In an effort to “get us,” the enemy tells us lies, half-truths and even complete truths (in deceptive ways) in his effort to get us to doubt our Salvation. Let’s look at a few of his arrows. Satan says that God doesn’t really love us One of Satan’s most successful lies is that God doesn’t … Continue reading –>

Sabbath School Net Posted on November 27, 2013 by SSNET StaffFebruary 11, 2014avatar

Thanks to the work of a small team of volunteers at Seminar Schloss Bogenhofen (link to video tour), a Seventh-day Adventist seminary in Austria, we can invite lesson author Dr Martin Pröbstle into our homes or our Sabbath School classes to introduce the lesson. The introduction to “The Pre-Advent Judgment” runs just over 7 minutes … Continue reading –>

Judged by Our Works?

Since 1981, when I began preaching in high school, I have preached in many churches from Chiclayo, Peru, to Torrington, Connecticut.  I have spoken to large and small congregations with various needs.  I have illustrated to some conservative churches the need to be a little more liberal, and to liberal churches, how to be a … Continue reading –>

A Bottle of Oil

Adult Holding Child's Hand

It was November, 1966. My husband was in the Army and I was at home with our young son. Our second child was due in January. The princely sum of $183.10 a month (the Army allotment for dependents) didn’t go very far. First, I would lay aside the tithe, then the house payment of $64. … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
