He Grew the Tree He Knew Would be Used to Make the Old Rugged Cross

Sabbath School Net Posted on January 29, 2013 by William EarnhardtJanuary 31, 2014avatar

Around a hundred years ago, when I was a teenager, a country singer by the name of Barbara Mandrell, sang, “He grew the tree that He knew would be used to make the old rugged cross.” The song brought out, that even at creation Jesus was planning our redemption. This song could not be any … Continue reading –>

Survival of the Fittest vs the Golden Rule

Sabbath School Net Posted on January 29, 2013 by Lillianne LopezFebruary 21, 2018avatar

Where does morality come from? How do humans decide how to behave? As a Christian we see that moral behavior is a product of my belief in a Creator God. But what if a person does not believe in God? What dictates his morality? In a sermon on “Evolution and the Christian Faith,”  Phillip E. … Continue reading –>

Dominos, Sabbath School and Controversy!

Sabbath School Net Posted on January 23, 2013 by William EarnhardtAugust 2, 2013avatar

Dominos is a game played around the world, but I have found lately that it is not played the same way around the world. I was raised in Oklahoma, where my grandmother taught me how to play, by playing off the ends as well as the sides, so that you are going in four different … Continue reading –>

The Revisionist Bible

Sabbath School Net Posted on January 16, 2013 by Lillianne LopezMarch 26, 2015avatar

Once upon a time, the world happened, possibly with the help of some Higher Being. Finally, men and women came along. They began to worship the Higher Being and to tell and to write down stories about It (the Higher Being). In some of the stories, the Higher Being was called God. One of the … Continue reading –>

“Not I But Christ” OR “Me Plus Christ”

Sabbath School Net Posted on January 16, 2013 by William EarnhardtOctober 16, 2015avatar

There are probably plenty of  reasons why God waited till He had created everything else, before He created man. Obviously the environment was not inhabitable for mankind earlier, but I would like to suggest another reason. If man had been around while God was creating the earth, he might have come up with the notion … Continue reading –>

What Science Can and Cannot Do

Sabbath School Net Posted on January 9, 2013 by Leonard BrandJanuary 2, 2014avatar

MODERN SCIENCE has accomplished marvels that seemed like impossible dreams a few decades ago. Albert Einstein determined that matter could be converted into energy, and the atomic scientists did it. It now seems common place to have nuclear power plants producing electricity. Science has come up with the knowledge and technology that made it possible … Continue reading –>

The Greatest Evidence There is a God

Sabbath School Net Posted on January 5, 2013 by William EarnhardtJuly 18, 2013avatar

“Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves….” Psalm 100:3 I entered the ICU in a Tampa hospital to pray with a family who was about to lose their mother. The mother was a Christian. The daughter was near believing, but I soon found … Continue reading –>

Spiritual Perfectionism

Sabbath School Net Posted on January 5, 2013 by Jennifer SchwirzerApril 18, 2013avatar

I’ve heard that the wise old owls at the American Psychiatric Association who revamp the diagnostic manual every ten years have considered a diagnosis of “perfectionism.” What do you think? So far the owls believe that 301.4, obsessive compulsive personality disorder (OCPD, not to be confused with OCD, [or CDO if you want the letters … Continue reading –>

Glory Days…

Sabbath School Net Posted on January 1, 2013 by William EarnhardtJanuary 11, 2013avatar

Every creation of Jesus is better than the one before. Bruce Springsteen sings a song called “Glory Days.” In the song he talks about running into old friends and talking about glory days gone by, when they were much younger. I can relate. When I was young I loved to play basketball. However, about a … Continue reading –>

An Accidental Life

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 31, 2012 by Lillianne LopezNovember 18, 2016avatar

When my sons were little, we spent a lot of time watching shows or videos about animals. And, initially that sounds awesome because then they were learning things instead of watching mindless kids’ shows (they watched those too). Nature shows are so much fun to watch – the photography is beautiful. Except that every single … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
