Inside Story: The Power of Many

Sabbath School Net Posted on July 10, 2014 by Sabbath School LessonJuly 19, 2014avatar

Believers in western Russia work together to win their neighbors—and sometimes thieves—to Jesus. They write the names of people for whom they are praying in a book at church. Then they deliver tracts or newsletters to those people during the week. One woman who owns a goat farm asked God who to pray for, and … Continue reading –>

Further Study: Ellen G. White, Divine-Human Saviour, p. 1126-1128 in TheSDA Bible Commentary, vol. 5. While God’s Word speaks of the humanity of Christ when upon this earth, it also speaks decidedly regarding His pre-existence. The Word existed as a divine being, even as the eternal Son of God, in union and oneness with His … Continue reading –>

02: The Son – Hit the Mark

Sabbath School Net Posted on July 10, 2014 by Curtis HallJuly 10, 2014avatar

I never really thought about this until this week’s lesson on The Son. Hyperbole in speech is so common that unconsciously I took for granted some of the words Jesus spoke to His disciples. But this week, examining who Jesus is, gave me an opportunity to look deeper into my beliefs and convictions. Jesus had … Continue reading –>

Studying the Word With Jesus

When Jesus returned to the Temple and began teaching, the leading priests and elders came up to him. They demanded, “By what authority are you doing all these things? Who gave you the right?” Matthew 21:23 NLT That makes me think of what a friend told me about when she was first sitting on a church … Continue reading –>

Jesus' Hand Lifting Up a Man's Hand

After considering who Jesus was, we are in a better position to understand what He came to do for us. Satan made accusations against God. In order to meet those accusations, Jesus came to represent the Father’s character, and to correct the false concept that many had developed about the Godhead. He wanted us to … Continue reading –>

Jesus and Lazarus

Jesus declared and demonstrated that He had the same power as the Father to overcome death. As the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will (John 5:21, NKJV). Only God can state: I am the resurrection and the life (John 11:25, NKJV). Another … Continue reading –>

Tuesday: Christ’s Divine Nature: Part 1

Sabbath School Net Posted on July 7, 2014 by Sabbath School LessonJuly 9, 2014avatar

The deity of Christ is the foundation of our faith. A human being could never be our savior, no matter how extraordinary his life may have been. Throughout the entire New Testament, we have evidence of His divinity. We will focus on what Jesus Himself taught about this subject. It was, for starters, not a … Continue reading –>

Monday: The Son of God

Sabbath School Net Posted on July 6, 2014 by Sabbath School LessonJuly 11, 2014avatar

The title Son of God was used not only by Gabriel (Luke 1:35) but also by several people when addressing Jesus (Matt. 14:33, Mark 15:39, John 1:49, John 11:27). He accepted that title but was very careful not to apply it directly to Himself, lest He be stoned to death. Nevertheless, the Bible does reveal … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
