The Role of the Bible in the Last Days

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 19, 2026 by William EarnhardtApril 27, 2026avatar

He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make … Continue reading –>

I Need Thee Every Hour

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 16, 2025 by William EarnhardtDecember 21, 2025avatar
Playing notes of hymns

Monday’s Sabbath School lesson asks, “With so many wonderful promises before us, why do we still find it so easy to sin?”  Personally, I am increasingly aware of the reality of that old hymn: “I Need Thee Every Hour.” When I was younger, I would sing this song without appreciating the gravity of my need … Continue reading –>

Truth is not a Popularity Contest

And all the people who belong to this world worshiped the beast. Revelation 13:8 NLT Sadly, many put their confidence in popular opinion, while the Bible tells us the vast majority of the world will worship the beast. Interestingly while Jesus claimed to be God, the majority accused Him of blasphemy and had Him crucified … Continue reading –>

The Gospel Presentation

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 23, 2018 by William EarnhardtMay 6, 2018avatar

With this week’s lesson titled, “Salvation and the End Time,“ this is a good time to think about how we can share the hope of salvation with those those around us.  “More people than we think are longing to find the way to Christ. Those who preach the last message of mercy should bear in mind … Continue reading –>

What I Hate About Memorizing Scripture

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 19, 2017 by Marcos David TorresFebruary 16, 2018avatar
Woman Studying her Bible

Every Jesus-follower knows that memorizing scripture is super important to spiritual growth. Paul the apostle said “the word of God is alive and active” (Hebrews 4:12). As such, when we memorize the words of this book we are memorizing living words. These living words have many benefits – such as power over temptation (Psalm 119:9, 11), … Continue reading –>

Why the Church Needs Sabbath School

Sabbath School Net Posted on January 12, 2017 by Curtis HallApril 28, 2017avatar
Black man holding Bible in front of church.

There are many reasons why the church needs Sabbath School. Our foundation as a denomination is an outgrowth of serious Bible study. It led to an appreciation of the Heavenly Sanctuary, an understanding of the still-binding Moral law, including the seventh-day Sabbath. It led to a proper understanding of the state of the dead and … Continue reading –>

The Matthew Challenge

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 3, 2016 by Maurice AshtonFebruary 13, 2023avatar

We are studying the book of Matthew this quarter. In my Bible, the Gospel of Matthew is twenty-eight pages long and I would like to issue a challenge to our readers to read the Gospel in a week. You could actually read it in a couple of hours on a wet Sabbath afternoon.   We often … Continue reading –>

How I Know God Is With Me

Sabbath School Net Posted on February 11, 2016 by William EarnhardtFebruary 16, 2016avatar

Several years ago I was flying from Fort Worth Texas to go home to Tulsa, Oklahoma, for the Thanksgiving holiday. It was a short flight and I was on a commuter plane. Upon landing, instead of pulling up to the terminal like the big jets, we were let out on the tarmac. I went up … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
