The First Advent Is Good News

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 19, 2013 by William EarnhardtDecember 25, 2013avatar

During this time of year much of the world turns its attention to the Bible account of the first Advent of Christ. You can read about it in Matthew 1-2 and Luke 1-2. Just as the angels of heaven brought “good news” to the shepherds, this is a good time for us to share the good news … Continue reading –>

“Our Prophetic Message” Videos

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 11, 2013 by Hope Sabbath SchoolAugust 28, 2014avatar

Martin Pröbstle has another 8-minute introduction to this week’s lesson on Vimeo and on Youtube. If you’ve not seen the previous ones, we suggest you review them now at Sanctuary Lessons on Vimeo or on The Youtube Bogichannel (also in German). It will be a great review for a subject which we, as a church, … Continue reading –>

Disappointment to Discovery!

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 6, 2013 by William EarnhardtMarch 9, 2016avatar

1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue, and while he thought he was finding a short cut to India what he found was a whole “new world.” Now granted, the millions of people already living there already knew about it, and there is evidence of visitors well before Columbus. Still that does not change the point … Continue reading –>

My All-White World

Sabbath School Net Posted on November 14, 2013 by Jennifer SchwirzerNovember 27, 2013avatar
orange juice

I grew up in an all-white world. Well, not exactly all white. There was Maurice, the black custodian at the local shopping center, who swept the sidewalks singing B.B. King songs. There was Joe Parche, the skinny, high-I.Q. boy who they bussed in from the city in an effort to “integrate” our high school. And there was … Continue reading –>

Jesus-side Up

Sabbath School Net Posted on November 1, 2013 by Lillianne LopezSeptember 23, 2014avatar

I’ve been doing some thinking about how things might look if more Christians were open to being filled and used by the Holy Spirit. Oh, I know, most of us believe that we are open and ready, maybe already being used by Him. And we’re probably right on some level, but not on a Moses-on-the-mountain, … Continue reading –>

Wednesday: The Church as the Sanctuary

Sabbath School Net Posted on October 8, 2013 by Sabbath School LessonMarch 3, 2016avatar

After Christ’s ascension to heaven and His inauguration as High Priest in the sanctuary there, the temple on earth no longer had any real purpose in the plan of salvation (see Matt. 27:50-51). However, God still seeks to dwell among His people on earth, which was now possible through the Holy Spirit. The apostles use … Continue reading –>

A New Commandment That Was There All Along

Sabbath School Net Posted on September 27, 2013 by William EarnhardtOctober 1, 2013avatar

There is a trick question I love to ask people. What was the tallest mountain in the world before Mount Everest was discovered? I get all kinds of answers, like “Mount McKinley “and so forth, but you know what the answer is? Mount Everest! Mount Everest was the tallest mountain in the world (Now I … Continue reading –>

Thursday: The Great Controversy Ended

Sabbath School Net Posted on September 25, 2013 by Sabbath School LessonMarch 3, 2016avatar
the Second Coming

The entire book of Revelation can be summarized in just a few words: Jesus wins, Satan loses . Read Revelation 12:17; 17:13-14; 19:11-16. What is the central message of these passages? Here is good news: the same Jesus who defeated Satan on the cross will come again and triumph over the powers of hell and put a full … Continue reading –>

Sunday: The Promised Power

Sabbath School Net Posted on September 21, 2013 by Sabbath School LessonMarch 3, 2016avatar

Christ’s Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20 is accompanied by His great promise. What is that promise, what does it mean in a practical sense, and how can we draw comfort from it? Why is that promise so important to us? The disciples preached not in their strength but in Christ’s. According to Paul, in fact, the gospel was … Continue reading –>

Sabbath School Net Posted on September 20, 2013 by Sabbath School LessonMarch 3, 2016avatar

Read for This Week’s Study: Matt. 28:18-20; James 5:7, 8; Zech. 10:1; Matt.3:11; Rev. 18:1; 19:11-16. Memory Text: “Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
