When Spiritual Egypt is Safer than Spiritual Israel

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 16, 2015 by William EarnhardtDecember 23, 2015avatar

After the wise men were gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up! Flee to Egypt with the child and his mother,” the angel said. “Stay there until I tell you to return, because Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.” That night Joseph left … Continue reading –>

Where Did God Say He Wanted His Law Posted?

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 10, 2015 by William EarnhardtFebruary 23, 2016avatar

The only letter of recommendation we need is you yourselves. Your lives are a letter written in ourhearts; everyone can read it and recognize our good work among you. Clearly, you are a letter from Christ showing the result of our ministry among you. This “letter” is written not with pen and ink, but with … Continue reading –>

This is Our Story – Tell it again!

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 2, 2015 by Maurice AshtonDecember 27, 2015avatar

When I was a kid, grandmothers were very important because they told stories. No, they did not read them, they told them in their own words, often complete with actions. And we kids would sit at her feet in wonder as she told stories of the family back in the “Old Country” (England). We had … Continue reading –>

The Ramblings of a Wimpy Christian

Sabbath School Net Posted on November 27, 2015 by William EarnhardtFebruary 16, 2016avatar

Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me. Luke 9:23 NLT In Jesus’ time and place, when people picked up their cross, it was to die, just like Jesus picked up His cross to … Continue reading –>

Hot Lunch and Syrian Refugees

Sabbath School Net Posted on November 24, 2015 by Lars JustinenDecember 25, 2015avatar

Back in 1991 my wife and I leased an old red brick building in downtown Nampa, Idaho, as our art studio. For $200/month we got 5,000 square feet of space on the second floor of a 100-year-old building, including a large room we used as our photo studio. After a year we ended up hiring … Continue reading –>

Josiah Reading the Law

Tapping into the widespread admiration of basketball icon Michael Jordan, a highly successful TV ad named “Be Like Mike” was launched on August 8, 1991. Michael’s effervescent smile, his passion for the game and his superior athletic skills made him a household name all around the world. Everyone wanted to be like Mike, including me at … Continue reading –>

Idol Worship in the Church

Sabbath School Net Posted on November 10, 2015 by William EarnhardtAugust 27, 2017avatar

In Numbers 21 the Children of Israel wanted the luxuries of Egypt instead of the presence of God. So God allowed snakes to enter the camp, providing the opportunity to learn how much they depended on Him. The people soon realized they had made a mistake and begged for the snakes to be removed. That … Continue reading –>

Why Rebukes Make Me Feel Loved and Secure

Sabbath School Net Posted on October 20, 2015 by William EarnhardtNovember 4, 2016avatar

Wounds from a sincere friend are better than many kisses from an enemy. Proverbs 27:6 NLT Long ago, I was writing a blog post about humor. I compared the humor of my friends in different areas. Just a few minutes after publishing my post, I got a call from a friend here where I live. He told me I better … Continue reading –>

What Are You Worth?

Sabbath School Net Posted on October 16, 2015 by William EarnhardtJuly 5, 2017avatar

He gave justice and help to the poor and needy, and everything went well for him. Isn’t that what it means to know me?” says the Lord. Jeremiah 22:16 NLT George W. Jenkins not only began his Publix grocery store incorporation during the depression, but he also set up several foundations and charities so that even after his … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
