Adventism as Worldview

Sabbath School Net Posted on December 6, 2024 by Ty GibsonDecember 23, 2024Ty Gibson
Seeing the world through an Adventist lens

“God is love” were the first theological words I ever read. Adventism gave me those words and the expansive perception of reality to which they grant access. What I needed was a way to make sense of the diametrically opposed forces of selfishness and love so obviously waging war within human beings.

Was the Atonement to Appease an Angry God or an Angry Race?

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 3, 2018 by William EarnhardtMay 9, 2018avatar

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”  Romans 5:8 Was the atonement and sacrifice of Christ a matter of vengeance? Did God the Father send His Son to die because He needed to see someone suffer for the rebellion?  Do we serve a God … Continue reading –>

Not too long before the cross, Jesus spoke with His inner circle about how people can come to the Father through Him. It was then that Philip said: “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us” (John 14:8, NKJV). How did Jesus respond to Philip? John 14:9. What does His response teach us about the Father? … Continue reading –>

Why Was Sin Permitted?

Sabbath School Net Posted on January 3, 2016 by Ellen G WhiteJanuary 3, 2016avatar
Lucifer in Heaven

“God is love.” His nature, His law, is love. It always has been, and it always will be. Every use of creative power is an expression of infinite love. The history of the great conflict between good and evil from the time it first began in heaven also reveals God’s unchanging love. The King of … Continue reading –>

We often say that “God is everywhere.” Or that He is “omnipresent,” which means that He is present throughout the universe. “ ‘Am I a God near at hand, . . . and not a God afar off? . . . Do I not fill heaven and earth?’ ” (Jer. 23:23-24, NKJV). David understood, too, that … Continue reading –>

Plate-Spinning

Sabbath School Net Posted on February 20, 2013 by Lillianne LopezAugust 29, 2017avatar

Do you remember that old circus trick? The performer would have about five sticks standing up straight and he’d put a plate on the end of each of the sticks and start it spinning so that the centrifugal force would hold the plate up and on the end of the stick. As long as the … Continue reading –>

Satan’s Biggest, Fattest Lie Ever!

Sabbath School Net Posted on February 7, 2013 by William EarnhardtSeptember 1, 2013avatar

In the late 1860s in the United States, shortly after the Civil War, which abolished slavery, a former slave owner is loading sacks of vegetables onto his wagon near the town square. Across the street he sees his former slave and yells out to him, “Get over here and load these bags onto my wagon … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
