Growing Up From Flower Girl to Bride

Sabbath School Net Posted on October 29, 2012 by William EarnhardtFebruary 14, 2016avatar

When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.  1 Corinthians 13:11 Many of us became Christians for childish reasons. We just wanted to go to heaven. That is okay. Jesus tells us … Continue reading –>

Check Mate (Delayed)

Sabbath School Net Posted on October 29, 2012 by Lillianne LopezNovember 3, 2012avatar

I have been known to be kind of a klutz … not altogether undeservedly, I’m afraid. Well, this week I cut my finger while fixing lunch. The sad part thing was that I knew it was going to happen, but could not seem to make my hand move out of the way of the knife. … Continue reading –>

Drowning in Sin

Sabbath School Net Posted on October 23, 2012 by Stephen TerryNovember 30, 2016avatar

“And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved; for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be deliverance, as the Lord has said, even among the survivors whom the Lord calls.” Joel 2:32, NIV Many public beaches and pools have lifeguards who dedicate their time to making sure that swimmers … Continue reading –>

“First Crack Outta the box!”

Sabbath School Net Posted on October 22, 2012 by Jennifer SchwirzerMarch 19, 2015avatar
Creation, represented in concentric circles, with an African Adam and Eve.

My late father, Richard D. Wilson, was known for such pithy one-liners. He first slung this one at me on a long, hot family road trip to Florida. It was one of those classic family car scenarios  – ever-vibrating little kids in the back seat, parents sitting like sentinels in the front, occasionally shouting commands to … Continue reading –>

Easy to be Saved, Hard to be Lost

Destruction and Sorrow

And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom [is] as the sand of the sea. And they went … Continue reading –>

Restoration

Sabbath School Net Posted on October 18, 2012 by Lillianne LopezMarch 22, 2013avatar

There’s a TV show that my family and I watch called American Restoration. The star is Rick Dale. 1 Watching Rick restore whatever his clients bring in is an amazing process. Usually what they bring in has been dropped, crushed, rusted or in some other way destroyed. But after Rick and his employees have worked … Continue reading –>

“Who? Who? Who Are You?”

Sabbath School Net Posted on October 17, 2012 by Stephen TerryJuly 4, 2015avatar

“What is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet: all flocks and herds, and the … Continue reading –>

Dress and Dignity

Sabbath School Net Posted on October 15, 2012 by William EarnhardtAugust 31, 2013avatar

“And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.” Genesis 3:7 As soon as sin began, legalism began. Adam tried to cover his shame by his own works. However that did not work. Just three verses after Adam makes … Continue reading –>

Compost or Character?

Sabbath School Net Posted on October 10, 2012 by Jennifer SchwirzerJanuary 18, 2014avatar

I remember a tense chat I had with my youngest daughter, who at about five years old became angry over some comment I made during dinner. She stalked off, planting herself on the couch with an ugly scowl. I walked over and began to speak to her softly, apologizing for the offense I’d caused, but … Continue reading –>

Conspiracy Theories or Prophetic Facts?

Sabbath School Net Posted on October 9, 2012 by Jennifer SchwirzerOctober 11, 2017avatar

All serious-minded people experience, at some point in their lives, something like the following: After a nice social event—perhaps a dinner with guests—a discussion begins. The sad state of the world and current events provide common ground at first. Before long, someone begins to speak more—much more—than anyone else. The one-time social visit turns into … Continue reading –>

At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
