08: Equipping for Evangelism & Witnessing – Thought Starters

Sabbath School Net Posted on May 23, 2012 by Joyce GriffithSeptember 9, 2014Joyce Griffith

[Thought questions for Equipping for Evangelism and Witnessing May 23, 2012] 1. Good deeds. If all that is good is of God, what do you make of the statement in the quarterly that good deeds can be performed apart from Jesus Christ? Is that possible? What about equipping someone else for a witnessing or evangelistic program? … Continue reading –>

Angels Shouting God's Appeal

“And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people” Revelation 14:6. 01: Defining Evangelism and Witnessing – Thought Starters

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 4, 2012 by Joyce GriffithMay 27, 2015Joyce Griffith

“Gentlemen,” the speaker said, “I mean Ladies and Gentlemen.” He nodded to two women sitting on one side of the room. “We are here to discuss the basics of an outline that will soon become the operating plan for the new School of Evangelism and Witnessing at the University of Adventists.”1 Nobody said anything. “Before we begin, I … Continue reading –>

Above My Pay Grade

Sabbath School Net Posted on April 3, 2012 by Lillianne LopezApril 9, 2013avatar

What do you think of when I say the word ‘evangelism’ or the word ‘witnessing?’ Do they mean the same thing or are they different from one another? And, just who’s supposed to be doing them anyway?1 Many of us like to believe that, they’re someone else’s job, right? Evangelism is something preacher’s do in … Continue reading –>

Evangelism and Witnessing Introduction

Sabbath School Net Posted on March 31, 2012 by Sabbath School LessonMay 27, 2015avatar

Although experts disagree on the exact number, one thing is certain: many Protestant denominations exist today. Hundreds, even thousands. Which leads to such questions as, Why the Seventh-day Adventist Church? What’s our purpose? What relevance do we have? The answer is simple: God raised up this church to proclaim “present truth,” the Three Angels’ Messages … Continue reading –>

Since February is Black History Month in the United States and Canada, we are going to look at how issues of race, slavery and ministry were addressed by the early Seventh-day Adventist church, as well as how they are discussed in the Bible. Of all possible topics to be discussed, race, religion and politics are … Continue reading –>

Where Goeth Adventist Youth Ministries?

Sabbath School Net Posted on November 11, 2011 by Cindy TutschApril 12, 2015avatar

In 1879, teens Luther Warren and Harry Fenner wanted to do evangelism for Jesus. Praying together often for ideas and vision, young Fenner and Warren initiated the first Adventist youth group. Their Michigan Adventist Youth Society was successful from the beginning, and soon spread to other conferences. In the early years of Adventism, youth work … Continue reading –>

“Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;  Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight!” Isaiah 5:20-21, NASB Today, most Christian denominations are hierarchical in structure with layers of clergy … Continue reading –>

The Purpose of the Church

Sabbath School Net Posted on June 23, 2011 by Stephen TerrySeptember 9, 2014avatar

“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. At a camp meeting 40 years later, I happened to see Dr. I. demonstrating some kind of health product, if I remember correctly. (In my mind, I see only the image of him, much older, but still looking much like he did when I was a student, with a friend by my side.) I lingered a little but did not introduce myself. I briefly wondered whether he recognized me. I’m fairly sure that I was as recognizable to him as he was to me.

Had he changed? Or did he still feel superior in his “humility”? Should I talk to him? I didn’t know how to approach him, and was busy with friends. I still don’t know whether I should have said something. (Maybe I’m just a coward.)

If God wants him to see my story, his and my identity are clear enough in this post, that God can direct him to it.
